Visual Signatures A noticeable feature of Cunningham's videos are how he challenges the conventions of the stereotypical portrayal of women, he does this by blurring faces of men in to bodies of women. Another visual signature that we discovered was he uses a signature arrow sign at the begin of most of his videos.

Cunningham first made a name for himself in the early 90's in the art departments of major motion pictures, designing robots and creatures for Clive Barker and David Fincher. In 1997 Chris Cunningham directed thewellknownvideoCome to Daddy,which promoted him on the radar known to artists. Over the next two years Cunningham directed six videos and seven commercials.
4. In 2000 Cunningham directed two short films for the Anthony D'Offay Gallery titled flex and Monkey Drummer.These both had a very modern feel to them.In 2005 Cunningham released Rubber Johnny, a six-minute shortvideo that showed just how disturbing a vision Chris has.
5. Commercials Cunningham has directed a handful of commercials for companies including Gucci,PlayStation, Levis, Telecom Italia, Nissan and Orange. In these adverts they do not say a lot about the product, in most of them the product appears at the end of the advert. He focuses on abstract imagery and ideas.

Another visual signature of Cunningham is how he usually experiments with different genders/ age of people and also includes very abnormal looking people, which to some audiences comes across as unpleasant and offensive.
