RICHMOND, R.I. — Tucked away at the end of a private road near Wyoming
village, the house at 23 Thompson Trail was custom built nearly 15 years ago on
more than 6 acres along the Wood River.
A walking trail through the wooded section of the back yard leads to the water's
edge, where there is a floating dock. Woods surround the two acres that were
cleared around the house itself.
Owners Gregory and Anne Branch designed their home to be wheelchair
accessible for a family member, so there is an open, airy feel to the house, with
double French doors and wide hallways on the first floor. The open-flow design
also makes the home ideal for entertaining. The living and dining rooms share a
large space with multiple windows and a fireplace.

The 3,456-square-foot home has four bedrooms, three full bathrooms and two
half bathrooms. There are two master bedroom suites, one on the first floor, and
one on the second level.
Anne Branch said her four daughters were grown and she was living in a
condominium in North Providence when she met her husband. She said they
decided to build their own home because they could not find what they wanted
on the market. She said they picked Richmond as the location of their new home
because it was close to both of their workplaces, but it was also secluded and
rural.
Inside, the contemporary Colonial house is decorated with flair. The mostly-
neutral decor, with light-toned hardwood floors, has splashes of intense color,
including a bright red front door, one wall painted red in the family room off the
kitchen, and a lavender color on the painted walls of the first floor master
bedroom suite. The walls of one of the second-floor bedrooms, now used as an
office, are painted a bright shade of coral pink.
The first-floor master suite has a walk-in closet with double doors, and the
bathroom leads to an enclosed sunroom at the back of the house. There is also a
long deck at the back of the house for outdoor entertaining.
The kitchen is roomy, with double sinks in the corner of the large L-shaped
granite counter and another sink in the granite-topped center island, which also
provides casual seating. The kitchen also has a separate dining area. There is a
laundry room just off the kitchen, along with a second first-floor lavette. The
other one is near the front door.
The front door has a stained glass window insert and there is also stained glass in
the sidelights that frame the front door. The foyer has a vaulted ceiling. Double
French doors lead from the foyer to the formal living and dining rooms. Another
short hallway from the foyer leads to a lavette and a coat closet.
The Branches are selling because they are planning a move to a warmer climate.
The house at 2 Thompson Trail, Richmond, is priced at $649,900. Real-estate taxes are
$10,619. An open house will be held Sunday, March 19 from 12 to 2 p.m. For more
