On April 22nd, people around the world commemorate Earth Day to honor the first large-scale environmental protests in 1970. Over 20 million Americans rallied that year to support environmental causes like clean air and water. Since then, Earth Day has grown into a global event where local activists celebrate in different ways and work to protect the planet for future generations. This document outlines the history and growth of Earth Day, as well as how a group of students created a presentation to teach others about the holiday in both English and Spanish.
2. On 22nd April, we
commemorated the 43rd
anniversary of the earth’s day.
Why?
3. Because…
. On that day, but in 1970, 20 million
American people went out into the
streets, parks and auditoriums all
around the country in support of a
healthy and sustainable environment.
5. The groups who had previously fought
independently against oil spillages, energy
plants, factories that polluted the
environment, pesticides, road- building,
species in danger of extinction and the loss
of wildlife, suddenly realized that they
shared the same values. |
11. And this is how we want to
commemorate Earth Day…
Let’s sing this song
altogether.
12. How we did this project
1. On April 22nd, the teacher gave us an
explanation with a photo of what is Earth Day in
SPANISH.
2. The teacher wrote some questions in ENGLISH to
guide our translation.
3. We translated the text.
4. We wrote the final copy.
5. We chose the song to play with the presentation
6. We produced this PowerPoint.
7. We rehearsed the presentation in the classroom
