David meets, Goliath: The Mac is born 1984 Frank Halasz and Randall Trigg from  the Xerox Corporation invent Notecards. Macintosh by Apple: a revolutionary machine. John Higgins and Tim Johns publish Computers  in Language Learning (Collins). Mary-Ann Lyman produces one of her first programs: “ Computerized Lessons: Rendez-Vous”.
David meets, Goliath: The Mac is born Phillips Releases the first CD-ROM (Compact Disk-Read Only Memory). EUROCALL was apparently coined in 1984. EUROCALL Group meeting took place on January  31 st 1986 at the university of Liége in Belgium.  Graham Davies wrote the report for this meeting.

A Guide to Hypercard Guide was invented by Prof. Peter Brown at the University in Kent. Philips invent the CD-I (Compact Disc Interactive).  CD-I for language learning with children. Bill Goodman invents Hypercards but it won’t be released by apple (free) until 1987.

The Late 80’s: From Knowledge Navigator to the WWW Legenhause, L. & Wolff, D. Publish Computer Assisted Language Learning The NIALL journal changed its name to JETT (Journal of Educational Techniques and technologies). Then changed its name to the IALL journal in 1990.
John Sculley, presents his vision “ The Knowledge Navigator”. 1988 internet relay chat and it  was design by Jorkko Oikarmen. The first Eurocall constitution is written in November 1988.
