1. Throughout this slideshow I have analysed four different killers to
compare them and highlight significant similarities they have with
one another.
2. Mask disables us to see the killers
facial expressions, suggesting they are
wanting there identity hidden. It also
heightens fear as it depersonalises
them and makes them isolated from
society.

background.
6. Slasher horror killers have various shared qualities .For example,
- They all seem to be disfigured or monstrous. Eg, burns and scars
- Identity often concealed and masked in a certain way- draws out fear and
dehumanises them. It also forms a detachment from society.
- Most of the killers I've observed seem to have a troubled and traumatised backstory,
which defines them as a killer. They often have a childhood trauma that explains
their choice of weapon, victim and location.
- Resurrection is a common theme with the fact that they always come back to haunt.
- The killer in slasher horror is generally a male, being usually very strong and
sometimes large, making it impossible to kill them.
- The killers tend to utilise hand held weapons, such as knives, machetes, axes etc.
These are common everyday objects, which makes it more scary as it highlights the
danger that can occur with a basic object. This also suggests the manical aspects of
the killers.
7. This observation and analysis into horror killers will benefit me when coming to do my main
task of a horror trailer. This task has allowed me to understand the key features and aspects
of a killer, and I can therefore have an idea of what I want my killer to look like. I am very
excited to incorporate the stereotypical features of killer I have learnt through my research
into my main task. Such as, the character being a powerful masked male of who has had a
troubled backstory. I think it will be important to make sure my killer uses an everyday
object as their weapon, to heighten danger and fear.
I will utilise my knowledge gained from the Christine Blundell make up work shop, to help
create my killers facial deformities and disfigures with the aim to dehumanise my character.
