5. Psychographics are imperative in determining an audience within the media industry, in my
case understanding an audience for a music magazine. I will use different aspects within my
magazine to highlight and target the different types of people.
The three forms of psychographics I have tried to address in terms of attracting my audience
are the innovators, the mainstream and the aspirers.
As you can see, on the front cover I have used the convention of a splash highlighting the fact
it is a debut edition, therefore, will attract the innovator due to it being a newly formed
magazine and them seeking new things.
Furthermore, the interview provides information about a current artist within the genre of
R&B and hip hop so would provide the mainstream with escapism allowing them to keep up
with the gossip of the current situation and topics amongst my genre of music's industry.
Finally, due to me having a new artist as the main part of my magazine, I will use this to target
the group of The Aspirer. I want my artists success to cause them to want to aspire to be like
him and be influenced by him, to have the higher status they crave for.
