Horror film mood board
Colour scheme:
Red – this colour can be associated with violence/blood, commonly shown
in horror. It can also be a symbol of danger.
Black – is often associated with death and evil which is important in horror
as there is always a dark character to make the film scary.
White – this colour is often used in costumes to portray the innocence of
the character.
Creepy possessed objects. In horror
the objects which are possessed by evil
are objects which are known to bring
happiness or fun. Dolls and clowns
are an example.
Often objects such as Ouija boards
are used to communicate with the
dead, which usually kicks off the
main story in supernatural horrors
as characters summon an evil spirit.
Satanic or religious symbols appear often in horror.
Abandoned or isolated locations are used to create the idea that if
anything happens there will be nobody around to help you.
Knives are used often in horror, either by the
antagonist to murder or by the protagonist
to kill the ‘bad guy’.
Silver bullets are supposedly the only weapon against
creatures like werewolves.
