Introduction <ul><li>Whaling is the hunting of whales mainly for meat and oil </li></ul><ul><li>According to an April 15 th , 2010 article on whale hunting, it states “Despite a 1986 international moratorium on commercial whaling, the numbers of whales killed annually has been rising steadily, to near 1,700 in 2009 from 300 in 1990, as the three whaling nations have either opted out of treaty or claimed to be taking whales only for legitimate scientific study.” </li></ul>
  • 3. When is it legal to hunt whales? <ul><li>The International Whaling Commission allows limited commercial whale hunting </li></ul><ul><li>The species is not endangered </li></ul><ul><li>Whales have very high population </li></ul><ul><li>The world has diminishing marine resources </li></ul>

  • 9. Community Service <ul><li>A Community Service that I’m interested in doing is helping animals at a shelter </li></ul><ul><li>I want to do it because I like to help animals at a shelter because I want to save animals from bad owners, dirty places, &amp; find great owners. </li></ul>

University of Maryland <ul><li>University of Maryland –College Park </li></ul><ul><li>The yearly tuition is $8,416 with food, books, and transportation tuition is $22,115. </li></ul><ul><li>The program requirements are four years of English, three years of math, three years of history or social science, three years of science in at least two different areas, with at least two lab experiences, and two years of a foreign language. </li></ul><ul><li>The other college information is that the four official colors are red, white, black, and gold. Testudo is the official mascot of the UMCP and he is a Diamondback terrapin. The school newspaper is The Diamondback . </li></ul>
