14. Summary
The results had some encouraging data that can be used to support my
hypothesis. There were 19 of the 28 respondents who were either somewhat
likely or very likely to used a DIY repair shop if they had guidance from a certified
mechanic. This tells me that having the mechanic for guidance would be a must
if I were going to move forward with this venture. Another encouraging sign was
that there were 18 of the 28 respondents who said they would be more willing
to attempt their own repairs if they had the proper facility and tools. Trust of
mechanic and cost of repairs were the two most important things that
respondents looked at when it came time to make repairs.
Some of the results were not very encouraging and would need additional
analysis prior to proceeding. The vast majority of respondents were comfortable
with how their vehicle was operating mechanically. The price they were willing
to pay also was not very high. This would make it difficult to make any money in
this type of business. There were a good split between male and female but it
would have helped to have more of the under 25 demographic for the results.
More information will be needed before this idea can be considered a good one.
