This document provides instructions for modeling a frame in Creo 2.0 by: 1. Defining a coordinate system and points to lay out the frame geometry. 2. Creating straight lines between points to define the frame skeleton. 3. Assembling the part file as a framework project in a new assembly. 4. Adding pipe profiles as frame members by selecting points or planes. 5. Creating joints where members intersect by using profile cutouts.

2. Open CREO 2.0 and Start a new Part file

3. Click: Model / Offset Coordinate System

4. Datum Point editor opens

5. Select reference: PRT_CSYS_DEF

6. Add points in the table: See next slide for values.
After entering the values click OK.

8. Result should look like this.

9. Now we define the line skeleton,
click on datum / curve / curve through points

10. Click the first point

11. Click the second point and then select Straight Line

12. Repeat until you build the whole frame

13. Result should look like this. Save the file and close it.

14. Create a new Assembly

15. Select Model / Assemble

16. Locate the part file that you just created.

17. Accept Default location and click ok.

18. Click on Framework

19. Click on Create new project and name the project

20. Click on Profiles, then here

21. Click on Steel Inch

22. Click Pipe

23. Select desired element (e.g. 1.315 x 0.109)

24. Select Reference Method Between 2 points

25. Select two points then the datum plane (Base plane)

26. Repeat for other members

27. Click delete datum plane and select points of vertical members and
A vertical plane

28. Add the following members, note that no line is needed to define a
member just two points!

29. Result should look like this.

30. Look that members intersect other members!

31. Click Joints

32. Select profile cutout.

First select profile to cut (1) and then the cutting profile (2),
Then select (1) then (3)

35. Repeat for other members

36. To perform these operations, designer
should have an idea of how the frame is
going to be built!

37. Finish FRAME!
