Brief description:
What do you see?
• This animated DVD menu for Iron Man has all different video clips and edited selected
areas rotating round Iron Man. Iron Man also rotates but at a much slower pace, this
targets him making the viewer concentrate on Iron Man as he is the main character of
the film. This gives the viewer a slight insight about the film before it has even started.
As well as the Iron Man character giving the viewer a insight there is also video clips
rotating around him quickly which are scenes from the film.
Techniques used:
Animation, Visual Effects, Colour Rendering,
Graphics, Movement
• Animation – They use animation in this DVD menu because the make everything spin
and especially Iron Man.
• The visual effects are used when Iron Man moves and that video footage from the film
spin in animated windows.
• The colour rendering in this DVD menu uses a blue filter over everything but to make
Iron Man stand out they have made it so he is bright red so that the contrast makes him
stand out.
• Graphics and Movement – The graphics and movement make up most of this menu
because there is a lot of movement and CGI which makes up Iron Man himself and CGI
also make up the menus.
Advanced techniques:
Blur, Sharpen, Distortion, Rotation, Opacity
• They use sharpen on the parts that they want to stand out to the viewer and blur parts
that are less important. The full thing rotates quite fast whereas Iron Man rotates
slowly. This focuses your attention on him.
