IFHP is a non-profit, member- and partnership-based international federation working with urban development. We do so by facilitating a platform for international matchmaking, interdisciplinary knowledge exchange and modern and technical housing and planning discussions.
Members in more than 50 countries around the world. We have 48 council members from 25 countries. Our board have 6 members from 6 countries and 3 continents. We take pride in being member-based and do so by providing members with a platform for voicing their experience, worries and successes. IFHP has different types of activitites:
Some which are conducted by IFHP, some in partnership, some where IFHP act nationally. We facilitate the right conversation with the right people, and adjust our activities to fit members’ needs.
In 2015 – 16 we approach our mission by focusing on one topic: Housing & Habitat
We look at this from different perspectives and approaches mixing members, co-operating with partners, joining national debates and challenging it with international experience.
India is a geographical target as she is on the edge of a huge challenge with a growing population and immense preassure on the cities. We conduct different activities in India with partners and with our Council members, and related to the thematic focus housing and habitation.
IFHP also has a field office at the PURCs university in Porto Alegré which is conducting IFHP activities on the Latin American continent in Spanish and Portugeese.
IFHP voices perspectives and concerns about urban development.
IFHP facilitate people meet people. It’s about making entry points available for: Professional debates, Participation & Partnership
Internal:
Membership engagement and interaction
Content generation and output
Events, conversations, learnings, sharing
External:
Tri-sectorial partnerships across public, private and civil sectors of societies
Interdisciplinary to create sustainable urban development
As already stated; In 2015-16 Housing & Habitation, is IFHP’s particular realm of investigation. Three intertwined and interdependent perspectives drive our over-all approach:
Resiliency is the ability to recover from or adjust easily to adversity or change. It is the coping capacity on a city scale, the mental and community based scale!
Liveability is the sum of the factors that constitute a community’s quality of life—including the built and natural environments, economic prosperity, social stability and equity, educational opportunity, and cultural, entertainment and recreation possibilities. It is the life lived between the buildings.
Sustainability is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations. It is environment, it is technical solutions, it is energy, heating, air-cooling, transport, economy, investments etc.
Along with the thematic focus IFHP pays overall attention to 7 agendas which are overall relevant in modern urban development and therefore on-going part of our DNA.
We update them on-going and reflect them in different perspectives and through members and partners’ activities and experience.
Our recent update of the 7 agendas is related to Housing and Habitat and we include examples from members and partners.
