  • Geological morphology and climate impact on the landscape in Konya
  • Sinkholes Konya Plain is one of the most important plains of Turkey. There are various natural structures because of climate, geological morphology and water shortage. The name of this natural formation is swallow hole. This hole occurs by falling down of underground spaces.
  • Sinkholes Chalky stones in the underground cause these enormous holes. These holes ;deep of which about 100 metres, are the ones of touristic places in our country. Continental climate in Konya is quite hard, snowy in winters and very dry in summers so these geological formation appears easily.
  • Sinkholes You can see these gigantic holes in certain places of Konya. The holes may be sometimes dangerous for people who live in Konya.

  • Meke Lake The name of this lake is Meke.the lake emerges by explosion in underground.it’s panaromic view and geological structrue is wonderful.there are also various birds that you can see .this is an example that shows effects of climate, geological morphology in Konya.
  • Cappadocia Cappadocia is a historical region in Nevşehir , Central Anatolia. The relief consists of a high plateau over 1000 m in altitude that is pierced by volcanic peaks, with Mount Erciyes near Kayseri. There are fantastic fairy chimneys that are worth to see. Due to its inland location and high altitude, Cappadocia has a markedly continental climate, with hot dry summers and cold snowy winters. Cappadocia’s geological morphology, climate ,vegetation cover are similar to lots of places in Central Anatolia.
