• As CEO your job is to maintain a constant vision (plus
manage board & investors)
• Hire people that are better than you
• Investors are buying into 3 things: your team, your market,
your product, but they only need 2 of these to invest
• Answer these: What problem are you going to solve? Why
are you going to win?
• Make sure there is a willingness to pay for your prod/
service
• Look at business areas that Google might be interested in
• Have a 1 page business plan
• Develop a powerful story about your business
• Create a founding contract with partners

• Get credibility quickly
• Raise enough money
• Make sure your market is big enough to grow
• Be interesting and irresistable
• Be lean and scalable
• Don’t use focus groups to test concepts
• Cheat and copy (a little) to save money
• Be open and have fun
• Take time to think (without your laptop or phone!)
• When something starts working – chase it
• In Ireland we are well connected – make the most of this
• Learn to live with the ups and downs!
