• Stalin told Truman, when asked to withdraw from Eastern
Europe, that Russian troops were staying as a buffer zone.
• The Iron Curtain refers to physical and ideological boundary
that separated the Warsaw Pact countries from the NATO
countries from 1995 to 1997.
• Truman’s Doctrine was the US support to aid nations that were
being threatened by outside influence, and promised to help
struggling nations against communism.
• The Containment pact was that America shall not go to war
with countries that were already communists, but to support
those against communism.

• The city of Berlin was located
in East Germany. The US
needed the USSR's permission
to bring all supplies through
East Berlin using roads and
railroads. The USSR cut off US
access to their controlled roads
and railroads leading to West
Berlin by making the Berlin
Blockade.
