The document compares two screen shots from a film project. It summarizes the key differences between the shots in four main areas: credits, location, sound, and audience involvement. The second shot shows more professional credits, a carefully chosen location, the use of non-diegetic sound, and framing that draws the audience into the action.
2. In those two screen shots we can see that our credits are different. In the first one we just wrote our names on a piece of paper and then we held it up and filmed it. In the other screen shot we put our credits directly in the thriller. We thought of a Company name and spent time choosing the font type of writing to give it a Professional and clean look.
3. In those two screen shots we see that we put more thoughts into the location. In the first one we Were just given the set and we Couldn’t choose anything from the Location. We had white walls and it Had nothing to do with the action. In the second screen shot we had to take care that we had a car and that the car park was empty. It’s the car park of the main house and that means that it takes a long time and lots of work to try and calm the traffic down. We chose the house and the environment carefully. Our location should be a country hotel /house and therefore the main house from Hurtwood House was perfect for it.
4. In those screen shots we “see” The difference of sound. In the First one the actors spoke and We had a script given from our Media teachers. We can see Again, that we couldn’t choose On our owns. In the second screen shot we can See an ear piece in George Spooner’s ear. You can hear a Voice over of a man talking to Him and telling him what to do. In the whole thriller we have no REAL diegetic sound. You can hear Non-diegetic music and the gun Shots we added during the editing Process.
5. In those two screen shots we Can see the involvement of the Audience in the shot. In the first Shot we notice that the framing is wrong. The wide shot doesn’t Involve the audience at all in the Action. However, in the second Screen shot the audience is Involved in the shot. It’s a Close up of the assassin Shooting the victim.
6. In those screen shots we can see That it’s not kept a secret, that in Both of them, someone is eventually Going to die. In the preliminary task We already know in the first 2 Seconds that it’s about killing the Person kneeling on the floor. In our thriller we don’t know That someone is going to Die for a longer time. The audience is then introduced To the gun with a tracking Shot, which is a way of using The camera. In the preliminary Task we just used easy shots, Like long shots, close ups, etc.
