Academy Developments <ul><li>LTSN has been incorporated in a new body, </li></ul><ul><li>The higher education academy </li></ul><ul><li>Since 1 st may 2004 (launched October 2004) </li></ul><ul><li>Along with </li></ul><ul><li>The institute of learning & teaching in higher education (ILTHE), </li></ul><ul><li>The body for professional accreditation </li></ul><ul><li>And also the national coordination team (NCT) </li></ul><ul><li>For teaching quality enhancement </li></ul>
  3. 3. The Higher Education Academy works with the UK higher education community to enhance the student experience . The Academy is the first choice of the sector for knowledge, practice and policy related to the student experience in higher education. This exciting new initiative has a strong stakeholder focus and will help institutions, subject communities, individuals, the Government and funding bodies to provide an exceptional environment for student learning.
  4. 4. The Higher Education Academy's vision, is for students in UK higher education to enjoy the highest quality learning experience in the world. Their mission is to support the sector in providing the best possible learning experience for all students. Their strategic aims are to: 1. Identify, develop and disseminate evidence-informed approaches 2. Broker and encourage the sharing of effective practice 3. Support universities and colleges in bringing about strategic change 4.   22. 22. <ul><li>Funded Workshop Scheme: </li></ul><ul><li>One of funded workshop, where learning and teaching professionals from the health sciences are given a grant to run a workshop with a certain focus in mind. </li></ul><ul><li>This is a one day event, where the HSaP supports the running of the workshop. </li></ul><ul><li>Departmental Workshop Scheme: </li></ul><ul><li>Departmental teams of four learning and teaching professionals from the health sciences, submit a proposal on how their want to improve or change things within their department. </li></ul><ul><li>This scheme will need a head of department involved for the new developments to be taken seriously. </li></ul><ul><li>Four departmental teams from different HEIs are involved in this workshop, and a special panel of professionals is also convened for the feedback to the groups. </li></ul><ul><li>This workshop is run on two separate days. </li></ul>Workshops

Giving participating academics the chance to experience and find out more about how other learning and teaching professionals are enhancing the students learning experience. </li></ul><ul><li>Posters: </li></ul><ul><li>The poster session allows learning and teaching professionals to showcase their work in the form of a poster presentation with a chance for discussion with other professionals. </li></ul>Festival of Learning
