3. Teaser Poster No actual picture
just animation
Dark colours set the mood of
the film, which helps represent
the genre. This is important
because it is the teaser poster.
Clear text of the films
that the director has
done to entice the
audience.
Black Swan font isn't the
same as the
officials, doesnβt show
professionalism. Audience
might not relate the
different advertisements
together.
List of the main stars
starring in the film to
make the audience want to
go watch it.
5. Official Poster
β’ The official poster is a lot different from the teaser trailer, for
example; the colour, presentation, character, title.
β’ The main aspects of the poster have been changed and show no
relation to the teaser trailer which could result being quite misleading
for the audience.
β’ The posters main colour scheme is white which in relation to the title
of the film is the contrast to the colour βblackβ. This represents the
opposite to what the audience will expect as the connotation of black
is quite dull, dangerous and mysterious. Whereas the connotation of
the colour white is positive, good and emptiness.
β’ As in the teaser poster, a character was presented however it was a
cartoon image which doesnβt display the type of character to the
audience. The character in the official poster is a woman that looks
quite sophisticated as she is all done up. This also gives the
opportunity for the audience to know the genre as from knowledge
the audience will know that βThe Swan Lakeβ is a ballet performance
so will be able to relate the name to βBlack Swanβ, so with the woman
presented to have show makeup on and the relevant props that are
used help to suggest that she is a ballet dancer .e.g. the tiara.
6. Black swan has an official website
The official website shows professionalism which helps boost the quality of
it to the audience.
The font is the same as advertised so it is easy to relate to and also
the audience will be able to recognise it better.
Same image as the official poster so it allows
the audience to know that it is the official
website.
Big icon declaring the award won of the
female protagonist in the image. It is in gold
so it stands out against the dark coloured
theme of the website. Makes it more eye-
catching and shows the importance of it due
to the connotation of the colour gold meaning
winner or success to the audience.
Enter site button makes it more interesting for
the audience as it involves interaction. It also
makes it more professional looking, and
creates suspense of what the site will hold
once the site is entered by the audience.
7. What the official website offers
Quotes from magazines that are
very visual for the audience to
see on the main menu to attract
audience, as they will see that it
is said to be good, because it
will only present positive
feedback for the audience to
see.
On the homepage the image is
a multimedia product where the
row of the character moves
when you move your mouse
around, as if it is imitating the
different angles of the woman.
This is effective as it shows that
the character in the film has
insecurities as the mirror could
represent the different
personalities she holds with the
reflections.
The title is kept the same font
and style as the official poster
which shows the relation of the
official services for the films.
The film, Gallery, Downloads, Video and Cast & Crew β Variety of choices to explore the site shows
the audience that it is a successful film so therefore allows to show all aspects of the punctuality of it
and how it managed to achieve what it has. It also shows professionalism to have so much choice, as
an independent film company would not be able to afford to run a website like this with all the
things you can do on it.
8. Magazines
As the film is based on dance, the film βBlack Swanβ is
advertised in a dance magazine.
This is very effective as it will target their specific audience as
dancers or people with a dance interest will be more inspired to
watch it, as most likely the audience will buy that magazine.
The image used is just of the character that is used in the
official poster, however it has been edited to have red eyes. This
is done because the title of the film has not been presented. As
the outcome of this it is mostly likely that the audience have the
knowledge about βSwan Lakeβ the ballet performance to include
the white swan and black swan.
Within this the audience will be able to understand that the
picture of the woman is imitating both characters. As it suggest
the evil is inside her, as that is what red eyes suggest in thriller
genres.
