Everything is connected
Ecosystem

 An ecosystem is: all of the organisms living in
an area together with their physical
    environment.

 Ecosystems are connected to one another
List all the components of the
           ecosystem
Ecosystem components can be
             organized into:

 Biotic factors: the living and once living
    components

 Abiotic factors: the nonliving parts
Biotic factors Abiotic factors
lion sun
zebra air
vulture water
hyena temperature
vegetation rocks
Soil organic matter Soil minerals
insects
poop
Living things can be organized into
                   levels
 Organism: an individual living thing
 A species is a group of organisms that can
    mate to produce fertile offspring
 Population: all the members of the same
species that live in the same place at the same
time (they usually breed with one another
    rather than other populations)
Organization continued:
 Community: A group of various species that
live in the same place and interact with each
    other.
 Note: a community consists of only biotic
factors. An ecosystem is both the biotic and
    abiotic factors.
 Habitat: the place an organism lives. Every
habitat has specific biotic and abiotic
components the organism needs to survive.
Organizing the Savanna
