    2. Alexander’s Victories
      • Alexander the Great, a Macedonian king, conquered northern India in 325 BC.
      • He had previously conquered the whole Persian Empire.
      • He didn’t stay very long to savor his victory in India. After a few years he traveled back to Babylon, where he died.
    3. Staying in India
      • When Alexander left for Babylon he left a few thousand Greek soldiers behind to keep an eye on things.
      • The soldiers used the workforce they had with them, to build cities in the Indus valley and Afghanistan.
      • The workforce included:
      • - writers
      • - artists
      • - sculptors
      • - teachers
      • The ancient Indians and the Greek soldiers came to know each other and learned a lot about each other and their cultures this way.
