Good afternoon. I’m very grateful that I have the opportunity to be with you today. What are you grateful for? Our topic today is Leveraging Emotional Intelligence For Sustaining Productivity Growth: An Individual and Organisational Perspective. How did a team of construction workers from Trelawny defy the sterotype of being “the worst type of worker” deliver their work ahead of time and under budget and then go on to successfully deliver the goods at the luxury Palmyra Development in Montego Bay. The answers are simple AND they are profound. Mr. Chairman, I am reminded of a time when a productivity consultant came across a drunk, on his hands and knees, searching for something on the ground under a streetlight. Being a helpful sort, the man asked if he could help. “ Sure”, the drunk slurred “I’vvvveeellllostmykeeeeys”. The helpful man asked the drunk where exactly he'd lost them. "Onnn Harrrrt Street" he gasped. The helpful consultant was now confused. "But that's two blocks away" he said. "Why on earth are you searching here?" The drunk was nobody's fool. Quick as a flash, he stood bolt upright and replied: "Because the light’s much brighter here.” ……
