Lay out
The lay out for the is article is very complex the writing is all over the place this reflect Nicki minaj’s personality, the text is all around her, you could say that is revolves around her as she is the main topic of the article. The main image is of her and she is the first thing that you would see is her as she is right at the centre of the magazine implying that she Is the main topic of the article. The text is written in columns and some of it is written is serif font this also reflects Nicki’s personality which is edgy. The heading is also written in serif font which again reflects her personality and also a gospel is a place of worship and the serif represents the bible as the bible is sometimes written in this font. The page number is written at the bottom of the page in bold so the reader doesn’t miss it.
When there are quotes the magazine clearly shows it by highlighting it to the reader so this stands out from the text as it is important to hear what she has to say “I really tones down the sexual stuff” this is important for the reader to know because it’s an important confession to make and it’s also links to the theme of the article which is religious and to say something like that is very modest. The headings for the article are in bold to differentiate them and make them stand out from the other text, they are written like the Ten Commandments which again follows the theme of religion. Every heading starts with a quote from Nickie this attracts the reader more and makes them want to read and see what she has to say, most of the quotes have religious references linking back to the theme.
The colour scheme used is pink and black and they have stuck to this scheme, the mast head is written in pink and is big bold and prominent, this reflects Nickie as she likes this to be made a big deal of there is a lot going on with her, also the fact that its big and in your face reflects her personality also pink is her favourite colour do the article is based entirely on her.
The main image is of Nicki herself, she is wearing bright clothing that wouldn’t be hard to miss it’s in your face the main image is the first thing the reader would see for sure as it’s kind of random, she is making direct contact with the reader making them feel like they can connect with her, her facial expression is blunt she looks surprised to see the camera this is her signature look, this is what she looks like in most pictures of her. She is wearing pink lip-gloss which conveys her feminine side and also links with the colour scheme she is wearing a fat ring that says ‘icon’ suggesting that is she would like people to see her as an icon, someone to look up to. The ring is being help up which emphasizes that she wants to be seen as an icon and not just another singer this is why she dresses in a certain way to make her stand out from other artists and this is her message to her fans to stand out and not follow the crowd. Her hair is again unique it has a sixties theme to is as does her clothing, it’s as though she is adding some wow factor to it.
