Background
• Service changes in September 2011 shifted
ridership and caused a decline in ridership on
Routes 304, 333 and 334.
• In March 2012, Routes 304, 333, and 334 were
surveyed identifying travel patterns of passengers
of those routes.
• New ridership generators in the service area:
– Patriot Ridge
– National Geospatial Agency (NGA)
– Saratoga Park & Ride (December 2012)

2012 to discuss proposed changes to Routes
304, 333, 334, and 395
– Proposed changes to Routes 304 and 395
received no public support
• October 2012 Changes were made to routes
333 and 334
– Service to NGA
– Eliminated Service Along Boston Boulevard

Summary
• Route 304:
– Modification of routing to provide limited-stop
service and express bus service to the Pentagon
– Provide limited stop service in the Saratoga
Neighborhood; and express service to the Saratoga
Park and Ride Lot, Backlick North Park and Ride, and
Pentagon Metrorail Station
– Eliminate service along Alban Rd and to Franconia-
Springfield Metrorail Station.
– Re-name as Route 394 Pentagon/Saratoga Express

• Route 371
– Splitting southern portion of Route 371 in Lorton
– Provide service to eliminated segments from Routes 304 and
333/334
– Routes 372 and 373 will be rush hour only service
– Route 371 will operate during “off-peak” times during weekdays
and all day long on weekends.
• New Route 372
– Provide service to Lorton Market, Lorton VRE, Alban Road, and
Franconia-Springfield Metrorail Station
• New Route 373
– Provide service to Silverbrook Road, Lorton VRE, Rolling Road,
Boston Blvd (Southbound Only), Franconia-Springfield

– “Express Fare” $5.35
– Benefits
• More service to the Pentagon
• One-seat ride from Saratoga Neighborhood to the Pentagon
• Provides another express option from Backlick North Park and Ride to the
Pentagon
