Facial expression is a major area for non-verbal language in day to day life communication. As the statistical analysis shows only 7 percent of the message in communication was covered in verbal communication while 55 percent transmitted by facial expression. Emotional expression has been a research subject of physiology since Darwin’s work on emotional expression in the 19th century. According to Psychological theory the classification of human emotion is classified majorly into six emotions: happiness, fear, anger, surprise, disgust, and sadness. Facial expressions which involve the emotions and the nature of speech play a foremost role in expressing these emotions. Thereafter, researchers developed a system based on Anatomic of face named Facial Action Coding System (FACS) in 1970. Ever since the development of FACS there is a rapid progress in the domain of emotion recognition. This work is intended to give a thorough comparative analysis of the various techniques and methods that were applied to recognize and identify human emotions. This analysis results will help to identify proper and suitable techniques, algorithms and the methodologies for future research directions. In this paper extensive analysis on various recognition techniques used to identify the complexity in recognizing the facial expression is presented.

Emotion Detection is one of the most emerging issues in human computer interaction. A sufficient amount of work has been done by researchers to detect emotions from facial and audio information whereas recognizing emotions from textual data is still a fresh and hot research area. This paper presented a knowledge based survey on emotion detection based on textual data and the methods used for this purpose. At the next step paper also proposed a new architecture for recognizing emotions from text document. Proposed architecture is composed of two main parts, emotion ontology and emotion detector algorithm. Proposed emotion detector system takes a text document and the emotion ontology as inputs and produces one of the six emotion classes (i.e. love, joy, anger, sadness, fear and surprise) as the output.

Metacognition is the ability to be aware of and regulate one’s thought processes. Self-regulation is the process of monitoring and managing one’s thoughts and behaviors and, as mentioned in Chapter 5, is a key variable associated with some motivational theories. As these two definitions suggest, metacognition and self-regulation are intertwined in that one must first develop an honest self- awareness, before successful self-monitoring can take place. For example, when one begins to learn something new, it is important to reflect on one’s goals and what variables might affect the process and one’s subsequent success. Some people might find that sounds are distracting when they are working. Others might find it difficult to remember verbal instructions and are more comfortable with written guidance. In both of these examples, if the learners are more aware of what they can do to support their personal success (e.g., studying in a quiet area or reading through documented instructions), then they can increase their likelihood of successful knowledge acquisition. Steiner (2014) has indicated that a successfully self-aware adult learner is one who: • has an independent self-concept; • can direct their own learning; • has accumulated a reservoir of life experiences that can be a resource; • has learning needs closely related to changing social roles; • is problem-centered and interested in immediate application of knowledge; and • is internally, rather than externally, motivated to learn. 1 RUNNING HEAD: METHODS AND RESULTS 1 RUNNING HEAD: METHODS AND RESULTS Methods and Results PSY 520 Diamond Newton April 21, 2019 Methods Participants This study was conducted using SNHU graduate level students in classes PSY 510/520. The link to the survey as well as the introduction was placed in an email to current classmates and in the SNHU MS Psychology Lounge where students were recruited to take the survey voluntarily. Each student was made aware that the survey was completely voluntary and any content provided will remain confidential. There were 12 people total to take the survey, and there was a mix of male and female students; only the first ten students were selected. Materials There were a couple of different materials used to complete this study. I utilized the participation of ten PSY 510/520 students from SNHU. I also utilized SPSS to analyze data obtained from the survey. The survey had 29 questions that included questions that were not broken into any category, but they measured the current choices and feelings made by the participants due to their childhood. The questions were not charged in nature. Special precautions to questions were taken to be sure not to trigger anyone’s past emotions if they may have had any. Qualtrics was also utilized as the platform for where students will be participating in the survey. Methodological Procedures The data collection heavily relied upon the Qualtrics. Qualtrics is a system utilized by SNHU for administering the questionnaire for students to participate. Once the questionnaires are completed, Qualtrics will analyze the data and group them. Results Raw Data This raw data was reduced by eliminating unnecessary and repetitive questions. By simplifying the questionnaire, you can focus on the questions that will provide the necessary data. The Likert scale format will remain the same for this data set. The statistical analysis will consist of the current feelings and tasks of each participant in relations to their childhood. The statistical analysis will not include questions removed that provided no bearing to the research question, as the questions were multifaceted and created too much ambiguity. Descriptive Statistics Below I have included a table outlining the descriptive statistics. There will be three separate tables; 1. Demographics table, 2. Childhood challenges, and 3. From the assignments and projects, I have worked on before, I can attest that I am a critical thinker and I do posses information literacy. The cover letter required a critical thinking and also possession of information literacy. Such details help to pass crucial information to the employer or the interview panel. The research skills evident in the work samples involve learning, debating, practical and also analytical. It is crucial for supervisory, counseling, negotiating and also teamwork. The psychologist is able to explain and advise, as well as establish work schedules that permit the victims to meet the requirements. Counseling will involve supporting, listening and facilitation, and hence it requires vast communication skills. Communication skills also help in collaboration with other researchers among others. My communication skills are quite excellent. The “ use of Internet Intervention ” assignment can attest the understanding of the ethical issues in psychology. The work showed ethical issues of using the internet or computer-based applications in solving issues arising in psychology. Business services won the "most likely to get digitally mugged" award, with education and retail nipping at their heels. Hackers expanded their repertoire beyond boring old encryption to the much more exciting world of extortion. The US, UK and Canada took top honors in the "countries most likely to pay up" category. Bitcoins were the currency of choice for discerning hackers, because who doesn't love untraceable money?
