5. Neyveli Lignite Corporation
• Incorporated as a private limited company on 14th November 1956
• Neyveli Thermal Power Stations are South Asia's first and only
lignite fired Thermal Power Stations and also the first pit-head
power stations in India. NLC Power Stations are generate about
2490 MW of Power.
• Setup by Indo-Soviet Collaboration, the 600MW Neyveli Thermal
Power Station-1 was commissioned with one Unit of 50 MW in May
1962. Presently this Power Station consists of six units of 50 MW
each and three units of 100 MW each. The last unit of this Power
Station was synchronized in February 1970.
