The students of VIII Standard at P.U.M School in Keela Gudalur, Tamil Nadu noticed biodegradable waste like leaves, vegetable peels, and leftover food in their school campus. They came up with the idea of making manure from this waste. They dug a pit and filled it with paper waste, cattle dung, fallen leaves, and leftover food. After one month, they collected the manure from the pit which also contained earthworms. They applied this manure to plants in their school ground with the help of their head teacher.
