2. Peer Insight – Start the Conversation
Peer Insight is a tool that engages employees in
a conversation that generates honest and
unfiltered insight into what is really impacting or
impeding the growth of the organization.
3. Each Peer Insight™ Deck
contains two types of
cards.
30+ – Topic Cards
Vary by Topic Deck
In excess of 30 Topic Decks
available, with new
Topic Decks regularly added
at
www.growingyourleader.com
18 – Praise or Concern Cards
4. Optional Cards
10 – Challenge/Confirm Tents
One side has the word Challenge,
the other side, Confirm.
Pass out to each player prior
to play.
1 – Invigorate Card
Placed with Peer Insight Cards –
provides quick exercise boost during play.
5. On the face of the Peer Insight
Cards, variations of two phrases
reside.
I have a Praise about…
Or
I have a Concern about…
6. Each Topic Card includes appropriate use designations. If a
Topic Card contains an “e” it’s appropriate for use with
employees, an “m” is appropriate for managers and
management teams and “r” is roundtable appropriate such as
Vistage, YPO, etc. A card can contain one, two or all three
designations. Simply remove cards if they aren’t appropriate
for a group.
Note: Each deck includes two blank cards, which will enable you to write a
custom statement using a dry erase marker. If you choose to write in
custom topic cards, shuffle them in with the printed Topic Cards. Remove
prior to play if you choose to forgo using.
On the face of the Topic
Card is a statement that
will be read in
combination with
a Praise or Concern Card.
7. Hand the Peer Insight
and Topic Cards to
the first player. The
player will pick one
card from each deck
and read them out
loud to the other
players.
The player will then
answer the the
statement from their
perspective.
8. OR a Praise
version might
look something
like this.
Upon each player’s completion
of their statement,
the cards will travel around the table
till every
Player has taken at least one turn.
Note: Keep the Peer Insight and the Topic Cards
separate by placing in two piles or placing them in a
Peer Insight Card Holder stand. Also be sure to remove
any blank cards prior to play, if custom topic cards were
not written.
9. Game Variations
Numerous game variations exist, here are a few:
Switch: Hand out one Topic Card to each player (Peer Insight
cards are not in play yet.) at the beginning of game play. Have
each player read their Topic Card out loud. Player #1 can then
decide
to switch their Topic Card with another player, or not. Proceed
around the table until each player has been allowed to switch with
another player. Upon completion (each player will have their Topic
Card in front of them), put Peer Insight cards in play.
Note: Remove Pick Two, Pass cards and Invigorate
cards from
the Peer Insight deck, prior to play.
Players Choice: The game leader removes the Peer Insight
cards from the table, and then informs players they will decide
whether to answer their Topic Card with an “I have a Praise
about…” or “I have a Concern about…” statement.
10. Challenge/Confirm: Each deck includes 10
Challenge/Confirm tents, which are optional for play.
When used, hand out one tent to each player prior to play.
A player simply places the tent with their response in front of
them following an answer to a Praise or Concern
statement. “Confirm” states they believe the answer, and
the answer is generally consistent with their understanding
of the situation. “Challenge,” if they disagree. This is a
great process for creating awareness and understanding.
