Welcome to the game Phy-Force
(Physics Killer)
Devised by: Tianyu Yang
It will be followed by 8 slides of introduction to its rules, and slides of
demonstration of ALL the cards.
Inspiration for this game comes from “Three Kingdom Killer”, one of
the most popular card games among Chinese teenagers.
Introduction
You’re going to learn a multiplayer card game, which has
been integrated with such elements including role play,
fighting and disguise etc. Through the cosplay of the well-
known physicists, it will enable you to experience a
complicated and confusing contest, which is also full of
excitement in the profound physical world. You will have fun
to the fullest by playing the game with the other players and
it’s absolutely your best partner when you’re joining the
party, relaxing or making friends. Well, the name of this
game is —Physical Killer.

Game components
10pcs of role cards: 1pc of physicist card, 3pcs of teaching assistant cards, 4pcs of student cards
and 2pcs of professor cards
25pcs of character cards
10pcs of energy cards
109pcs of playing cards
Role Determination
Refer to the table as below to draw the role cards according to the number of the players.
• Deal a role card to each player at random. And the player who draws the role card
of physicist should show his card immediately (place the physicist card before the
player with face up), while the players with other role cards should keep their
roles in secret, trying not to disclose to the others.
Game Objectives
• The objective of the game is subject to the role cards that have been drawn. The
victory condition for each role is described as below:
• Physicist: Kill all the others to prevent the students and professors from having
their own academic points.
• Teaching assistant: To assist the physicist with the same victory condition with the
physicist’s.
• Students: Overthrow all the points made by the physicist.
• Professor: Kill all the other roles, who are opposed to his opinion and become the
last survivor.
• The game is over should any of the victory condition is realized by any role.
Pick The Trump Cards
• The trump cards are characterized with some special skills and they do bring the
game a wide variety of changes and funs, but at the same time, they make the
game more complicated. We don’t suggest you to apply trump cards if it’s your
first time to play Physical Killer. Please neglect this section of “pick the trump
cards” and continue to read “Deal energy cards”. However if you do have
understood the Physical Killer, please have a try and apply the trump cards into
the game and please pick the trump cards according to the steps as below.
• First, there’re totally five trump cards. Please deal the cards of “Faraday”,
“Millikan”, “Ohm” and the other two random trump cards to the players who’re
now cosplaying physicists. The physicist will pick a trump to play the role and
show the selected trump card to the other players.
• Shuffle the balance 24pcs trump cards and deal three of them to each player at
random. Then each player should select one card from the three trump cards
before him/her with face down. After all of the players have selected the cards,
show them to the others simultaneously. After that, shuffle again the balance
unselected trump cards and put them aside with face down.
Deal energy cards
• Draw the appropriate energy cards with energy limit for the corresponding trump cards (please refer to the numbers of such cards in the book).
Cover the left side of the energy cards with the trump cards, while the physicist is entitled to drawing one more (not applicable to the four-
player games)on the basis of his energy limit.
• If the trump cards are not applied in the initial game, then the energy limit for every player is 4 and there’s no skill trump card, while the energy
limit for the physicist is 5.
Deal the starting hand
• Shuffle the playing cards and deal four cards to each player at random as the starting hand (hand: cards in the player’s hand) and put the balance
cards in the center of the table as the pile.
• Start from the physicist and begin the game in anti-clockwise direction by means of rounds. It means that each player will play a round of game in
his/her main phase and after his/her turn ends, the player at his/her right side will begin his/her turn and each player takes his/her turn one by
one.
• Each player’s turn has been divided into six phases:
• The start of the turn:Generally this phase can be skipped, but some of the trumps can apply the skills of this phase.
• Determination phase: If there’re some time-delay kits before you, you must determine these kits one by one.
• Drawing cards:Draw two cards from the top of the pile. If no cards are left, immediately shuffle the discard pile to form a new pile for drawing.
• Playing a card: you can play any number of cards including zero card to strengthen yourself or attack the other roles. However you must follow
the following rules: 1. “Electricity” can be used only once in the phase of playing a card. 2. Two cards with the same name cannot be put
simultaneously before a player in the negotiation area or the equipment area. When a card is played, it means that its effect has been activated.
Unless stated otherwise, all playing cards should be discarded after they’re played.
• Card discarding: In the phase of playing a card, if you don’t want to lead or no card can be played, you will enter into the discard phase. Now
check the number of cards in your hand to see if your current ability values have been exceeded. In the case that your ability value has been
exceeded by one card, then you must discard it.
• End of the round: Generally this phase can be skipped, but some of the trumps can apply the skills of this phase.
Additional Remarks:
• Unless otherwise stated, drawing cards means to draw cards from the top of the pile in
the game.
• When the players are playing the game, they should put aside all the played or discarded
cards to form a discard pile, where all of the cards should be placed with face up.
• When no card is left in the pile, immediately shuffle the discard pile to form a new pile
for drawing.
• Please note that “upper limit of the ability” is different from the “current ability value”.
Trump failure
• When the ability value of a trump is decreased to be zero or a lower level, it means that
this trump is going to die. At this moment, unless the player or the other player would
rescue the life of the trump by the “strength”, it would be declared failure. If it should
fail, discard all of its cards as well as those cards in the determination area and show the
player’s role.
• Should any role kill a student (even he/she is the student), draw three cards by the player
immediately.
• Should the physicist kill an assistant, the physicist should discard all his cards in the hand
as well as all the cards having been equipped.
Game over
• The game is over, should any of the following situations occur:
• In the case that the physicist fails: At this moment, if the profession is the only role that survives, then the professor wins, otherwise
it’s the student who wins the game.
• If all of the students and the professor should fail, then it could be declared that both of the physicist and the assistant win the game
(no matter whether they have failed).
Basic Concept
• Distance: Choose the shortest path no matter if the distance between the players would be counted in the clockwise direction or in
the anticlockwise direction and we call it the distance value between two players. If no arms are equipped, the player can only attack
those players that are in a distance of 1 away from him. When a role died, he/she would no longer occupy the position by one space,
which also means that the roles beside him/her in the left and in the right will become closer after he/she is killed.
• Attack range: The attack range for anybody is 1 in the first beginning, which means that you could only apply “electricity” to attack
those roles, who are within the distance of 1 away from you. After the arms are equipped, the role’s attack range is equivalent to that
of the weapon.
• Determination: It’s an action to judge if a skill or an effect will take effect successfully. The way to perform this action is to show the
first card on the top of the pile. The color and the points on this card are the results of determination. This card that has been shown
is the determination card, which will be discarded after the result of determination has been resolved.
• Color and points: It means the color and number shown on the upper left corner of the playing card. The color mentioned herein is
the color of the suit, say red for the hearts and diamond, and black for the spade and club. The color of a card is actually the color of
the suit for this card.
• Area: There’re three areas for each player, say hands, equipment area and negotiation area. Among these areas, the equipment area
and the negotiation areas are both “in play”. The owner of the hands and the cards in the equipment area is the player
himself/herself, while the cards in the determination area belong to nobody.
• Locking skill: When the conditions are met, this kill must be activated or has a long lasting effect. The skill with such key words
included can be regarded as a compulsorily activated ability.
• Application: When you play a hand, you must declare the card that is playing and appoint one object or
several objects for this hand. And then wait for the resolution and finally put it into the discard pile.
• Play a card: When you play a card, the only thing you need to do is to declare it and show the card you’re
playing and then put it into the discard pile.
• Discard: The discarding of a card means that the card will be put directly into the discard pile, even you
don’t have to declare what card has been discarded by you. Except in the case that the hand you discard
has exceeded the upper limit in the discard phase, otherwise you will never be allowed to discard the card
actively at any other time, unless any other special conditions allow you to do so.
• Event and response: When you utilize or play a card to activate a skill or make you stay in some state, it
means that an event has taken place. An event may be influenced by the other events. Start from the role
that is playing a round in his/her main phase and determine whether to give a response one by one
according to their turns in the game. If one should abandon to response, then he/she is not entitled
anymore to initiating a response during this resolution. When everybody makes the choice, it means that
the response completes and the resolution will be carried out one by one according to their turns.
• Resolution: It’s a process to determine if a card or a skill has taken effect. When the resolution begins,
anybody could give response. (In order to make sure that the game will go on smoothly, generally it’s not
necessary to ask deliberately if someone would response), and then if it’s not made ineffective (or
balanced), this card or skill will absolutely take effect (the effect of the card has been activated).
• Harm and source: Harm will reduce a role’s ability value. When it’s stated in a card that “A does harm to
B”, it means that as a character, A is the source to cause the harm (source is used to represent the origin
of the harm). Generally, except the time-delayed kits, if a card does harm to a target role, then source of
the harm is the owner of the card. That’s to say, source can only be limited to a role instead of a card.
