SAMPLE Privacy Policy Provisions
BULK AROMATIC RICE, LLC
Privacy Policy Provisions
1. What personal information do we gather?
We only gather the essential information required to complete your
transaction and that which is necessary to provide a safe and personalized
shopping experience with Bulk Aromatic Rice, LLC. We gather information in
these manners:
A. Information you give us via our web site, phone, email or address.
B. Automatic Information – gathered each time you use our site. This
information is gathered via cookies and other click‐tracking software
on our site that allows us to improve our site and personalize your
experience. This information is gathered when your browser
accesses our site, and may be disabled using your browser’s settings.
No personally identifying information (such as your name or address)
is stored in conjunction with this automatically generated information.
C. To help us make e‐mail more useful and interesting for you, we often
receive a confirmation when you open e‐mail from Bulk Aromatic Rice,
LLC if your computer supports such capabilities. We also cross‐chech
our customer lists with other lists to avoid sending duplicate or
irrelevant e‐mail to you. If you would like to opt‐out of all future e‐
mail correspondence (other than order confirmation) you may do so
in your Account Settings.
D. Information from other sources, such as postal delivery services and
consumer credit reporting agencies, may also be gathered to help us
correct delivery addresses, prevent and detect fraud on our site, and
to offer certain credit or other financial services to some customers.
This provision is essential to our Privacy Policy. Consumers need disclosure
as to the type of information that is being kept about them, and a clear
provision outlining this keeps the consumer well‐informed about their choice
to use the site and keeps us accountable to the type of information we gather,
use and store. It also helps us as a company to “take stock” of the
information we have so that it may be properly protected (FTC A Guide for
Business).
2. Do we share your personal information?
Bulk Aromatic Rice, LLC will never sell your personal information. We share
customer information only as described below and with subsidiaries Bulk

Aromatic Rice, LLC controls that are either subject to this Privacy Policy or
that follow practices that are at least as protective as those described in this
policy.
A. Third‐Party Service Providers: We employ other companies and
individuals to perform duties on our behalf. These may include, but
are not limited to, mail delivery services, credit card processors,
marketing professionals, order processors, and customer service
representatives. They have access to personal information needed to
perform their functions, but may not use it for other purposes.
B. Promotional Offers: Sometimes we may send offers to selected
groups of Bulk Aromatic Rice, LLC customers on behalf of other
businesses. When we do this, we do not give that business your
name and address. If you do not want to receive such offers, you may
opt‐out in your Account Settings.
C. Business Transfers: As we continue to develop our business, we may
periodically sell or buy subsidiaries or business units. In such
transactions, customer information is generally one of the
transferred business assets but remains subject to promises made in
the pre‐existing Privacy Policy. Also, in the event that Bulk Aromatic
Rice, LLC or substantially all of it’s assets are acquired, customer
information will of course be one of the transferred assets.
D. Protection of Bulk Aromatic Rice. LLC and Others: We release
account and personal information when we believe release is
appropriate to comply with the law; to enforce or apply our Terms of
Use and other agreements; or protect the rights, property, or safety
of Bulk Aromatic Rice, LLC , our users, or others.
This provision belongs in our Privacy Policy because privacy is becoming an
international concern and discussion (Sayer, 2010). Consumers and
international regulators alike want to know exactly what a site’s policy is on
sharing personal information. With this clearly defined, a user may move
forward in the site knowing the information sharing policy and the company
may operate business freely within the stated policy. Again, it comes back to
clearly defined expectations.
3. What about cookies, third‐party advertisers, and links to other websites?
Cookies
Bulk Aromatic Rice, LLC does utilize cookies to personalize your shopping
experience. Cookies are alphanumeric identifiers that we transfer to your
computer's hard drive through your Web browser to enable our systems to
recognize your browser and to provide features like Shopping History and
storage of items in your Shopping Cart between visits.

The Help portion of the toolbar on most browsers will tell you how to
prevent your browser from accepting new cookies, how to have the browser
notify you when you receive a new cookie, or how to disable cookies
altogether. Additionally, you can disable or delete similar data used by
browser add‐ons, such as Flash cookies, by changing the add‐on's settings or
visiting the Web site of its manufacturer. However, because cookies allow
you to take advantage of some of Bulk Aromatic Rice, LLC’s essential features,
we recommend that you leave them turned on.
Third‐Party Advertisers & Links to Other Web Sites
Our site includes third‐party advertising and links to other Web sites. We do
not provide any personally identifiable customer information to these
advertisers or third‐party Web sites.
These third‐party Web sites and advertisers, or Internet advertising
companies working on their behalf, sometimes use technology to send (or
"serve") the advertisements that appear on our Web site directly to your
browser. They automatically receive your IP address when this happens.
They may also use cookies, JavaScript, web beacons (also known as action
tags or single‐pixel gifs), and other technologies to measure the effectiveness
of their ads and to personalize advertising content. We do not have access to
or control over cookies or other features that they may use, and the
information practices of these advertisers and third‐party Web sites are not
covered by this Privacy Notice. Please contact them directly for more
information about their privacy practices. In addition, the Network
Advertising Initiative offers useful information about Internet advertising
companies (also called "ad networks" or "network advertisers"), including
information about how to opt‐out of their information collection.
This provision in our Privacy Policy is in accordance with industry best
practices for obtaining Privacy Certification (eTrust). It is generally expected
that users be informed about how their personal information is handled with
third‐party advertisers, as well as informed and educated about any tracking
software on your site (such as cookies).
4. How secure is info about me?
We work to protect the security of your information during transmission by
using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts information you
input.
We reveal only the last four digits of your credit card numbers when confirming
an order. Of course, we transmit the entire credit card number to the
appropriate credit card company during order processing.

It is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your password
and to your computer. Be sure to sign off when finished using a shared computer.
This provision is important to our Privacy Policy because, as industry best
practices have been established, it is important to tell users how you intend to
protect their personal information. This also helps to establish/build trust in the
company/site and clearly establishes the lengths a company is/is not willing to
go to in order to protect their users’ information. Also, it allows the FTC to make
reference to the site’s promises when investigating possible breaches of FTC
policies in regards to dishonesty/trickery charges brought by users, as in the
case of CVS Caremark (FTC, CVS Caremark 2009).
