5. Fertilization
• The ova (the female reproductive cell)
develops into the ovum when it is released
from the ovary into the fallopian tube.
• The ovum is the fertilized with sperm in
the upper ½ of the fallopian tube.
6. Implantation
• The embryo (fertilized egg) implants into
the endometrium (inner lining) of the
uterus between 6 to 7 days after ovulation.
7. Gestation
• The time required for the development of a
fetus.
• Usually 40 weeks.
