COEX Mall is a novel entertainment facility in the heart of the city. With over 250 large commercial stores and over
100,000 visitors on weekdays, it is generally considered to be the best entertainment complex around.
The COEX Aquarium is the only theme-oriented aquarium in Korea. There are 90 exhibition water tanks and 140
tanks used for breeding. There are about 600 species and 40,000 oceanic fish altogether. The tanks are divided
into six different sections and are viewed in a tunnel like atmosphere.
Apgujeong Rodeo Street is the leading fashion mecca, formed as a cultural zone with a high propensity for
consumption. It creates leading fashion trends, customer friendly shops, foreign brand name shops with high-

1. Bongeunsa Temple (Just Walking Distance)
Once known as Gyeonseongsa Temple, Bongeunsa Temple is located to the north of
COEX building, and was constructed in the 10th year of Shilla King Weongseong’s reign
(794). In 1498, Queen Jeonghyeon refurbished Gyeonseongsa Temple at the east of King
Seongjong’s royal mausoleum and renamed the temple as Bongeunsa.
Seonjeongneung comprises of the Seonneung Royal Tomb and the Jeongneung Royal
Tomb. There are numerous small hills with clusters of trees that create a border between
the mystery and serenity of the royal tombs and the hustle and bustle of downtown Seoul.

1. Itaewon - Global Fashions and Foods
Itaewon is a unique place in Seoul where one can meet people of diverse nationalities and
cultures. There is a popular joke saying that international residents may not know Seoul, but they
know Itaewon. Seoul even designated Itaewon as its first ‘Special Tourism District,’ to highlight it

Thanks to its rich history, Namdaemun Shopping Center boasts not only an impressive
array of items, but items not available elsewhere. For instance, visitors can find all kinds
of hard-to-get camera parts and accessories. Local products from across the country
are also readily available in Namdaemun Shopping Center.

Sungnyemun Gate(Namdaemun) is Korea’s National Treasure No. 1, and its unofficial
name is Namdaemun Gate. Sungnyemun Gate is the largest castle gate stone structure
with an arched entrance in the middle.
Built in 1395, Gyeongbokgung Palace is also commonly referred to as the “Northern Palace”
because it is the furthest north when compared to the neighboring palaces of Changdeokgung
(Eastern Palace) and Gyeongheegung (Western Palace). Gyeongbokgung Palace is arguably the
most beautiful and remains the grandest of all five palaces.

South and North Korea from the present cease-fire line set up
according to the cease-fire agreement on the 27th of June 1953.
