1. Global Warming is man made!
Many people are debating whether global warming is true or false. Well,
there is so much evidence to support the fact that it is real. I strongly believe
that global warming exists, and with the proof given, we have to do
something about it.
The main cause is CARBON DIOXIDE (and other greenhouse gases such as
methane and nitrous oxide). People are releasing it too much because of
fossil fuels, deforestation, oil/coal drilling, or garbage in landfills.
Fossil fuels are items that run on oil or coal. Each time that a person uses
these fossil fuels, such as cars, carbon dioxide is released into the air.
Because carbon dioxide, methane, and nitric oxide are greenhouse gases, this
means that these gases will trap heat, causing our world to gradually war up.
This is a major problem.
Scientists have theorized that because of these causes, the Earth is now
acting up. It is given proof that because of the release of greenhouse gases
such as carbon dioxide, methane, and other greenhouse gases, our Earth is in
danger. Humans are the ones causing the problem, and we must take action
to help stop this problem.
There are many possible effects of Global Warming.
Polar ice caps melting:
Water rises→ and if the water rises, the whole cap could be under water and
eventually disappear
Polar bears are dying because they are losing their habitat. This is proof of
global warming.
People are releasing too much CO2, and that is a heat trapping gas (or a
greenhouse gas). This gas warms the Earth too much, resulting in the polar
ice caps melting.
Species are becoming extinct:
Their habitat is not suitable for them. They cannot adapt to it so fast.
Because of humans, an alarming rate of animals is becoming extinct every
day. At this rate, more than half of the world's species will be extinct in 100
years. This is because of habitat destruction, climate change, pollution, and
invasive species. The animals that are in danger, why this is happening, and
what we can do about it.
Example: Reptiles, amphibians, fish in ponds or lakes, trees and flowers
will have a difficult time changing and adapting to the changes in the
2. weather.
More natural disasters/overall changes in the weather→ such as:
- More floods
- Heavier rains
- Droughts
- Too Much heat
- Colder winters
- Tornadoes
- Hurricanes
- Tsunamis
Examples: Hurricane Katrina in 2005 destroyed people’s homes and this
left thousands homeless, hungry, or dead. The same results occurred when
the Asian tsunami occurred in 2001. This can be harmful even fatal to
humans.
Sea Levels Rise:
This happens because when greenhouse gases heat the air, water volume
expands. Then, this will result in sea levels to rising.
Scientists predict by 2025, sea levels may raise to 15 inches higher than
today.
Eventually, New York City entirely will become under water.
When time passes, eventually our entire world will be under water if humans
don’t take action.
Humans can help take action by recycling items such as paper, cans, and
glass instead of throwing them in the garbage. This can help because when
garbage is taken by a dump truck, then it has to be burned. Burning carbon
adds carbon dioxide into the air. People can also bury garbage. However,
this is also a problem. Burying garbage in landfills leads to increased
atmospheric methane as the garbage decays. To prevent this, people should
definitely recycle more often.
Another way to help stop global warming is by reducing the use of fossil
fuels. People can do this by taking non-oil or coal transportation, such as
walking, riding a bike, skateboarding, or riding a scooter. People can also
carpool with others to reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases.
Global warming clearly exists. The proof of the ice melting, species
disappearing, and strange weather, because of the evidence of heat trapping
gases, should convince people that global warming exists. Now all we have
