  1. 1. By : Retno Palupi
  2. 2. Subtitles : - What is Global Warming - What is Green House effect - What causes global warming - History of Global Warming - Effect of Global Warming - What are people doing to stopGlobal Warming - Solution of Global Warming
  3. 3. Global warming is when the earth heats up(the temperature rises). It happens whengreenhouse gases (carbon dioxide, watervapor, nitrous oxide, and methane) trap heatand light from the sun in the earth’satmosphere, which increases thetemperature. This hurts manypeople, animals, and plants. Many cannottake the change, so they die. Menu
  4. 4. The “greenhouseeffect” is the warmingthat happens whencertain gases in Earth’satmosphere trap heat. These gases let in lightbut keep heat fromescaping, like the glasswalls of a greenhouse. Menu
  5. 5. Sometimes the temperature can change ina way that helps us. The greenhouse effectmakes the earth appropriate for people to liveon. Without it, the earth would be freezing, oron the other hand it would be burning hot. Itwould be freezing at night because the sunwould be down. We would not get the sun’sheat and light to make thenight somewhat warmMenu
  6. 6. Many things cause global warming. Onething that causes global warming is electricalpollution. Electricity causes pollution in manyways, some worse than others. In most cases, fossil fuels are burned to create electricity. Fossil fuels are made of dead plants andanimals. Some examples of fossil fuels are oiland petroleum. Many pollutants (chemicals thatpollute the air, water, and land) are sent into theair when fossil fuels are burned. Menu
  7. 7. Some other examples of using energy and polluting the air are:- Turning on a light- Watching T.V.- Listening to a stereo- Riding in a vehicle- Playing a video game
  8. 8. Svante Arrhenius(1859-1927) was a He foundSwedish scientist that was that thethe first to claim in 1896 averagethat fossil fuel combustion surface temperature ofmay eventually result in the earth is about 15oCenhanced global warming. because of the infraredHe proposed a relationbetween atmospheric absorption capacity ofcarbon dioxide water vapor and carbonconcentrations and dioxide.temperature. Menu
  9. 9. This is called the natural greenhouse effect.Arrhenius suggested a doubling of the CO2concentration would lead to a 5oC temperature rise. He and Thomas Chamberlin calculated thathuman activities could warm the earth by addingcarbon dioxide to the atmosphere. This research wasa by-product of research of whether carbon dioxidewould explain the causes of the great Ice Ages. Thiswas not actually verified until 1987. Menu
  10. 10. The planet is warming, from North Pole toSouth Pole, and everywhere in between.Globally, the mercury is already up more than 1degree Fahrenheit (0.8 degree Celsius), andeven more in sensitive polar regions. And theeffects of rising temperatures aren’t waiting forsome far-flung future. They’re happening right now. Signs areappearing all over, and some of them aresurprising. The heat is not only melting glaciersand sea ice, it’s also shifting precipitationpatterns and setting animals on the move. Menu
  11. 11. 1. Ice is melting worldwide, especially at theEarth’s poles. This includes mountainglaciers, ice sheets covering West Antarctica andGreenland, and Arctic sea ice.2. Sea level rise became faster over the lastcentury.3. Precipitation (rain and snowfall) hasincreased across the globe, on average.4. Hurricanes and other storms are likely tobecome stronger.5. Sea levels are expected to rise between 7and 23 inches (18 and 59 centimeters) by theend of the century, and continued melting at thepoles could add between 4 and 8 inches (10 to20 centimeters).
  12. 12. People are doing many things to try to stopglobal warming. One thing people are doing iscarpooling. Carpooling is driving with someoneto a place that you are both going to. This minimizes the amount of greenhousegases put into the air by a car. Another thingthat people are doing is being more carefulabout leaving things turned on like thetelevision, computer, and the lights. Menu
  13. 13. A lot of people are taking time away from the television, and instead, they are spending more time outdoors. This helps our planet out a lot. Now, more people are even riding busses, walking to school, and riding their bikes to lower the amount of greenhouse gases in the air.Menu
  14. 14. Planting trees and recycling also helps. Ifyou recycle, less trash goes to thedump, and less trash gets burned. As aresult, there are fewer greenhouse gassesin our atmosphere. Menu
  15. 15. 1. We plan to offer honest value comparisonsof products such as hybrid cars.2. Choice of building materials is just one partof what is known as green building.Green building can best be described as thebirth to grave process of building.
  16. 16. conclution : Remember to save our earth. Allwe need to do are plant new trees asmuch as we can and dorecycling, reducing and reusing.
  17. 17. Let’s keep our earth from damage
