1. Entry Activity – Multiply the following numbers
Level 5 Success Criteria
1. See how many digits are in both
1. 23 x 15 numbers
2 3 2. Draw a box for each digit
2. 45 x 82 1
3. Put the numbers above each of the
boxes
3. 89 x 61 5 4. Draw the diagonals across the boxes
5. Do the multiplications for each box
Level 6 (remember the units go in the bottom
half of the box).
6. Add up across the diagonals (remember
1. 3.5 x 9.4 to carry any ten’s).
7. Write the answer out
2. 5.3 x 0.54
Decimals
3. 0.61 x 3.6 Remember to count the digits after the
decimal point in the question and put the
4. 3.45 x 2.7 same number of digits after the decimal
point in the answer.

21. Success Criteria ~ Dividing Decimals
1) Is the decimal the second number (to divide by)? If no do
a normal divide sum. If yes, move to step 2.
2) Multiply both numbers by 10 to try and make the 2nd
number a unit.
3) Is the number a unit? If yes go to step 4, if no repeat
step 2.
4) Write the sum out e.g.
2 0.8
5) Put the decimal point in the answer above the decimal
point in the question. Make sure you keep your workings in
line.
6) Complete the sum
