relating multiplication and division

  1. 1. Mission – Objective I will use fact families to completemultiplication and division problems.
  2. 2.  Multiplication and Division are inverse operations. That means that they are related and are almost opposite. When you multiply you build something up: 3 x 6 = 18 When you divide you break something down: 18 ÷ 6 = 3 (you could also do 18 ÷ 3 = 6)
  3. 3. A fact family shows all the related multiplication and division facts for a set of number. Thisis a fact family for 2, 3, and 6;2 x 6 = 6 6 ÷ 2 = 33 x 2 = 6 6 ÷ 3 = 2
  4. 4.  1.8 x _ = 3232 ÷ _ = 432÷ _ = __ x _ = 32
  5. 5.  Independent Practice 95 x _ = 3535 ÷ 7 =_ x _ = 3535 ÷ _ = _
  6. 6.  Write a fact family for 7, 8, 56_ x_=__ x _ = __ ÷ _ = __ ÷ _ = _
  7. 7.  Witha partner, complete Independent Practice questions 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20.
