1. 1st choice of song

Lil Wayne- on fire
We 1st chose this song because we felt that it might create the right atmosphere because it sounds very dark and chilling (typical of your genre? If yes which other films have done the same?). After listening to the song a few times we realised that the song was to up-tempo for the film as we decided that the film should be slow paced (as this would match audiences expectations of Thrillers) .so we would needed a slower and calmer song. Which is typical of films in the thriller genre I found this out from research on thriller openings.
This song also has a lot of instruments such as drums and guitars and also lyrics after a group discussion we decided that we also would prefer a song with out lyrics so that the audience can focus more on the actors and their actions hence easier for them to be drawn into the narrative of our film. We also decided that we needed a song that would match our location which is a church so in order to do this we needed more string based instruments or a choir.
2nd choice of song
Hillsong -With all I am
Our second choice of film was considered mainly because it is a Christian song and would fit well into our 1st location that we are using it also is a song that our character grace would listen to as she is a devoted Christian, so we could introduce the music through graces headphones as diagetic sound and then as she puts the headphones in her ear the music would become non- diagetic and play through out the time she has her head phones in.
This song is not our final choice because our ideal song would be without lyrics. This song is also to up beat like our 1st choice and we have learnt from our research that, that particular song would not help the mood that we are trying to create.
3rd and final choice
Aftermath
We have chosen this song because it helps create the right atmosphere that we are trying to make. The sound of the organ/piano helps to create the desired meaning of dark and chilling atmosphere that we are aiming to create. It also fits in with the location that we are filming in. Because of the instruments in the track are instruments that audiences would be associated with a church, which is our location.
