These are the websites that we got the majority of our soundtracks and
sound effects for our film from. This is because when researching for the
type of music that we wanted in our film we found that this website had a
great variety of music and sound effects that we could look through. Until
we found the one that we thought best fit the mood of our film and gave
the desired effect. We also used the YouTube music library, where we were
able to listen and download unlicensed music that we could use in our film.
We also felt that the website had a really good sound quality once we
previewed it online and then downloaded it and put it into our film.
Links That We Used And Why:
3. Also we wanted to find a variety of different music and sound
effects so that we could actually put them into our film but then
change them if we didn't feel like the music fit right. For example
the first scene we had changed the music for it multiple times until
we finally made a decision on the one that we definitely knew fit the
best into the mood that we wanted to create with the first scene.
As this will be the first thing that people see and hear and we want
it to leave an impression on the audience. In the end the music we
chose is similar to that of a creepy nursery rhyme as we wanted to
show to the audience that the characters mind is perhaps that of a
small child. Also this type of music is associated with something
being incredibly creepy and puts the audience on edge slightly as
they might expect something scary to happen.
Variety Of Music:
4. When deciding for sound effects for our film it was very much trial and error
to whether or not the sound effects worked where we put them and
whether we had to adjust the volume. When looking through the sound
effects online we found quite a few that we wanted to include in our film
but once we put them we decided that they don’t really work as well as we
would of hoped. For example for the scene where the main character is in
the kitchen with her mum we wanted to have the sound of a clock ticking in
the background to connote to the audience that time is passing, which in
turn helps to build tension between Lottie and her older sister. After we had
put the sound effect in we decided that it was drawing to much attention
away from what was actually happening in the scene itself. So we decided
to remove it rather than fading it out or making it the whole length of the
scene, as it just didn’t seem to flow with the scene and give the effect that
we first hoped that it would.
Variety Of Sound Effects:
5. After listening to our film throughout many times we made the
final decisions to what music and sound effects that we were
going to use in our film. We came to a unanimous decision when
placing the music and sound effects in the film to the parts
where we feel like it doesn’t take away from the events that are
actually happening in the scene itself. As then the audience will
be to focused on what they hear rather than paying attention to
the storyline and what they can see is happening. Throughout
our film we only have a couple sound effects and music tracks
for this particular reason. But the places that we have placed the
music helps to build the suspense in those scenes even if its not
necessarily a scene where something is going to happen.
