How to check out and read eMagazines on your PC or MAC
1. How do I check out and read
eMagazines on my PC or MAC?
2. • What are eMagazines?

• A recognised device
• Zinio Reader 4 (will need to be installed on your pc)
• TRC Library membership and an email address
• Creating your Zinio account and checking out an eMagazine
• Installing Zinio Reader 4 on your pc
• Setting up Zinio Reader 4 to access your eMagazines

What are eMagazines?
4. What do I need?
1. A recognised device – Windows PC or laptop
or MAC PC or laptop
2. An internet Connection
3. TRC Library Membership
4. An email address and password
5. Zinio Reader 4 (installed after magazine checkout)
5. Creating a Zinio Account
• Open your web browser and type
www.toowoombarc.qld.gov.au into the
search bar
13. • When the Create New
Account window open –
enter your First Name,
Last Name, Email and
Password
• Then click Create
Account
Write down your email address and password as you
will require them in a later step

IMPORTANT
14. • Once you complete the create account setup, this
screen should open in your browser confirming
that you are a registered user
15. • Now click on a magazine you would like to checkout
16. • Click Checkout
• Optional – For new issue notification click “Email me
when the next issue is available”

17. • You can click “Keep Browsing” to check out more
magazines or Start Reading if you want to read it
online OR close this window and. . . . . .
18. To read your eMagazine OFFLINE
• you need to download and install ZINIO READER 4
Reading OFFLINE on your PC or MAC
19. • Select either Option 1 or 2 to download Zinio Reader 4
• Option 1 - Using your web browser go to
http://www.toowoombarc.qld.gov.au/facilities-and-recreation/libraries/eb
and select the eMagazine article and follow the instructions on the next
slide to start the download for Zinio Reader
OR
• Option 2 - Click on the image below "Zinio Reader click here to Download
Zinio Reader 4" and follow the installation process. Or, you can download
directly from http://www.zinio.com/apps/desktop.jsp. If your pc doesn't
recognise Adobe Air files, you may need to install Adobe Air prior to
installing Zinio Reader 4. Click here to download Adobe Air.
20. • If you selected Option 1 on the previous slide, scroll
down and click ZINIO READER (Skip this slide if you selected Option 2)
21. • The Zinio.com website will open
• Click on the ZINIO READER image to start the
download process.
22. • When the file has downloaded, a popup window will
appear “Do you want to open or save
ZinioReader4.Air” click OPEN to start the install
24. • Click Continue to confirm the install preferences for
Zinio Reader 4
25. • When the “sign in to zinio” window opens click
create account
26. • Enter your first name, last name, email address and
password into the corresponding panels (Note you
must use the email address & password you recorded
earlier)
• Then click signup
27. • (Optional) Click Update Now to install updates, or
• Click Update Later
• Then follow the prompts
28. • In the Zinio reader 4 library setup, select the
frequency/preferences for Zinio Reader 4 to check
your account and download your eMagazines for
offline access
• Click continue
29. • Click no thanks for the Zinio Alert Messenger install
30. • Once the Zinio
Reader 4 install
completes, the app
will open at my
magazines
• (Optional) Click X
to close zinio help

31. • The eMagazine(s) that you
checked out previously will
appear
• shows that the
eMagazine has not been
downloaded to your PC or
MAC
• Click to download the
eMagazine whilst you are
connected to the internet
32. • Once the download
process commences a
download metre will
appear so that you can
monitor the download
progress
33. • The images below show eMagazines that have
been downloaded for offline reading (the
disappears)
34. • The image below shows an eMagazine that hasn’t
been downloaded completely to enable offline
reading
35. • Within the my magazine
window you can view the
Title, Date and other details
of your eMagazines
• New – means that the
magazine hasn’t been
opened yet from your PC
• To delete downloaded
eMagazines click the X button
and the eMagazine will be
removed.
36. • Once you go offline, you
can read eMagazine by
the clicking the right
arrow key
37. • Click on the cog symbol
to view, set or change
preferences for your
account, organising your
library and reading
preferences

38. • To change the view, click the button to change it to LIST view
Changing VIEWS
39. • The image below shows all the e-magazines in LIST view
• To change the view, click the button to change it to GRID
view
40. • The image below shows eMagazines in a LIST view
• These can be arranged by name (as pictured) or by date
• If you want to change the arrangement by date, click the arrow down
() and select by date
41. • The image below shows eMagazines in a LIST view
• These can be arranged by date (issue date) of the magazine
• If you want to change the arrangement by name (title), click the arrow
down () and select by name
42. Select TITLE Column – click on the first letter of
the name of the magazine you want to view

43. Select ISSUE DATE column – click the month of
the issue date of the magazine you want to view

44. Reading Indicator Column – this
columns shows :
•NEW if the magazine hasn’t
opened from your PC yet OR
• If the magazine has been
opened from your PC
