12. When making the desktop wallpaper, I wanted it
to repeat, so I made it in illustrator. I wanted it
to look fiery, so I made sure the background
colour was orange, but I wanted to have some of
the in-game assets in there, so I added the
balloons from the game. When I got feed back
on the initial design, I swapped the position of
the green and blue balloons, and added the red
balloon, to compliment the green balloon, and
made the text blue, so it would stand out more.
After feedback on the second design, I then
made the text a lighter blue, and changed the
background colour a little bit.

13. Wallpaper process
Initially Pete was going to
have eyes and a open lips
smile, but the eyes were
going to look out of place if I
put them on him, but I still
kept the smile, as it shows
how manic the character is in
the game. When making the
smile, I made his teeth look
horrible by putting light grey
lines on his teeth.
14. Wallpaper process
After making the Pyro Pete face, I made text to
go in the wallpaper. I chose the text Ashes to
Ashes, as when Pete dies, he turns to ash. I also
added some in-game assets to the wallpaper, to
show to fill some of the negative space in the
design. I rotated the balloons and Pete’s head a
little bit, to make it more interesting to look at. I
then brought it into Photoshop and added the
background colour afterwards.
15. Wallpaper process
The feedback on my design was that the text
seemed to be too boring to look at, and thought
that I should give it a drop shadow to make the
the text stand out more, they also said that
their was still some negative space in the
design, and that I should fill it up with some
thing to compliment the green balloon. So I
made adjustments to the text by making it a
dark blue, so that the drop shadow is easier to
see, I switched the green and blue balloon’s
positions, added a red balloon and put it next
to the green balloon
16. Wallpaper process
The feedback on the second version, said
that I should change the text, make the tile
wallpaper a smaller size and make the
orange background a bit brighter. So I went
into Photoshop again to edit the text to
make it brighter, so it contrasts better with
the orange background, and after I got the
updated version of the wallpaper, I made
the orange background slightly more
orange, making it more fiery, and I made
the image 300x300 instead of 500x500, so it
repeats more.
17. Scrapped wallpaper ideas
When I had feedback on the second
wallpaper, they said that they
wanted to see a version with just a
white background. So I made a quick
mock-up of what it would look like
then show them again. They said
that the white background makes it
look weird, and that I should stick
with the orange background.
18. T-shirt designs
When making the shirts, I wanted it to
appeal to people with dark humour. So I
made a shirt with a happy looking balloon,
with the shirt saying “I will kill your entire
family” and my other shirt shows the
someone on fire, and saying “Don’t smoke,
just blaze”. After I got feedback on my
initial design, I cleaned up my designs, and
changed the font of both texts. After
getting feedback on the second design, I
changed the fonts again, and changed the
quote of the blue balloon to “I will take
away everything you love”, I also tweaked
the designs a little bit.
19. T-shirt design process
When I was thinking up the design, I was looking at shirts
to work with, when I found these blank shirts, I decided to
make a shirt based on on a joke a made with a friend, and
a shirt with double meaning to it. The balloon shirt is
based on the joke were the happy balloon is actually a
pyschopath, and it says on the shirt “I will kill your entire
family” the other has the double meaning of being stoned
and being on fire, this double meaning only works if I
showed Pyro Pete on the shirt.
20. T-shirt design process
The feedback on the shirts, was that the texts for the shirts are
hard to read and don’t make sense for the shirts overall designs,
and that I should make the designs more crisp. So I made the
balloon design look more oval, to make it look more like a
balloon, and I changed the font from Lucida handwriting to
Impact, to make it easier to read. For the “Don’t smoke just
blaze” shirt, I gave the character in the design a highlight to
make it look more like he’s on fire, I also changed the font for
the shirt from Trajen Pro to Rockwell Extra Bold.
21. T-shirt design process
The feedback from my second design said that, the quote for
the balloon shirt should be changed to “I will take away every
thing you love” and the design looked to weird to look at, as it
still seemed to round. Feedback on the other shirt was that the
running guy looks like he’s skipping. So I drew the balloon again,
this time showing the weight of the water at the bottom of the
balloon and changed the quote, as it did sound more menacing.
I moved the leg of Pyro Pete a little bit upwards, so it doesn’t
look like he’s skipping as much, I also changed the font from
Rockwell Extra Bold to Krungthep, as it fit more with the quote
then the other font.
28. Icon process
When making the final version, I found a grid for
making app store icons. I made the Icon in
greyscale, and shaped it according to the grid.
With the balloons, power up and Pyro Pete’s legs
in the outer ring, Pete’s head and arms in the
inner most circle, and the film comes from the
bottom circle and ends in on the top of the inner
circle, and all the other bits from outside the
outer most circle to going in the circle. I was going
to put the title of the game into the icon, but I
took it out as it didn’t fit into the overall design.
After I finished the greyscale, I started to put
colours on it, using bright colours to show contrast
between the dark idea of a guy who loves being on
fire and the happy tone of colours.
