 NARRATIVE: The photo shows a comparison between
a sidewalk and heart broken. When someone’s heart is being
broken in a relationship, violence is more likely to happen. The
root symbolizes the relationship and the cracked sidewalk
represents the effect the relationship has on the heart. It is
slowly being broken apart. Some ways we can help educate
other about teen dating violence is by creating more support
groups in schools, peer counseling and mentoring.

 NARRATIVE: When you look at this photo you see
all the colorful painted wood with one brown wood piece
holding them together with a lock. I can see that the
different color wood pieced together represent the different
cultures and races in the community. The brown wood with
the lock is the person who recognizes the problem, and is
trying to get the message out to the community. They
attempt to bring the community together and build
awareness.

 NARRATIVE: This photo is of a withered away construction site, a ripped/dirty
cone with rust creeping along the iron. This image is what we have to see day in and day out.
Something we must endure that accurately portrays the society we as people live in today. It
has become a norm to see construction everywhere around and to typically pass it by without
a care in the world instead of having to deal with the reality of it all. This is what we as a
society have done regarding teen dating violence. People make up in their minds that dealing
with teen dating violence is so uncomfortable and sweep things under the mat or believe it
doesn’t exist at all. When I look at this picture I see an issue that could be dealt with by the
government stepping in and passing legislation to help prevent it and provide help to the
victims. Both the government and the community correlate hand and hand to worsen the
issue by the community not standing together to stop dating violence, like educating youth
and setting positive examples for them to follow what a productive couple behaves like. But,
because the community doesn’t take an interest, the government won’t either. There will just
be another bill to die on stack of so many others. I believe that if everyone just took the time
to listen to our youth the outcomes would be shocking about the truth that is really hidden
from adults.
