  • You’ve seen the case studies, you’ve heard the viewpoint from the largest consultant in this industry. And now we’re going to take you to the next level. We have added more depth and capabilities to our Cloud portfolio, to deliver Business Velocity for you.Buyers are moving from “adhoc” spending on apps to buying one platform; These buyers are leveraging the change in the rules (like millennial mindset, everything connected and mobile, consumerization of IT and big data and insights) to get ahead Cloud is at the core of what we do – the transition from adhoc cloud apps to one platform of cloud apps is at the heart of the cloud value propositionBusiness velocity allows customers to invest in cloud, op or hosted solutions...on one consistent platformHere is the our complete Cloud strategy for youThe HANA Cloud Platform is the foundation of our entire approach. We have just announced virtual private cloud with Managed Cloud services so you can get Suite on HANA and Business Warehouse on HANA as a service. We also have the Cloud Marketplace to extend the value of our applications and discover new apps built by you and by partnersAnd of course we have our purpose-built Cloud applications for lines of business, fully multi-tenant, natively mobile and social, with integrations to your SAP and third-party appsApps for People, Customers, Money and SuppliersWe never stop innovating at Cloud speed for you in each of these business centersPeople: we went 10 for 10 in analyst reports – rated a leader in every single category of Cloud apps for PeopleCustomer: you have got to see our Customer Insights now available for SAP Cloud CustomerMoney: our partner Aasonn is now live on Financials Cloud as their financial backbone. The New South Wales government in Australia is live on Business ByDesign for 8,500 users as their ERP in the CloudSupplier: long-time companies like Westinghouse are leveraging the power of the Ariba Network … [need to complete the reference]We wrap all of this with collaboration everywhere – for all of these application but also for your on premise applicationsWe connect people to people through SAP Jam, the only enterprise social network you need. It is integrated into specific workflows critical to getting business done. It is social in context. We also connect businesses to businesses through the Ariba Business Network
  • Business scenarios don’t depend on technologiesBackend systems are part of heterogeneous landscapesHeterogeneous landscape of mobile devicesSeveral technologies need to be usedDeveloper documentation is available on a specific technologyIntegration with other technologies normally not coveredA lot of integration know-how necessaryFast creation of secure and reliable applications is difficult
  • Revise based on new architecutreLet’s start with a high-level overview on the SAP HANA Cloud Connectivity service. There is the on-demand side, the data centers operated by SAP Cloud, on the upper part of the picture. On the lower part you can see the customer network, i.e. the on-premise side. So at the top we have the SAP hosted platform, at the bottom we have the customer, and in between there is the Internet. In the cloud, SAP HANA Cloud , the Java-based Platform-as-a-Service is running, while on the customer side there are all types of customer backends, like a SAP ERP system, NetWeaver Gateway, CRM systems, Enterprise Portal, or other non-SAP systems. The question is how you can provide an on-demand application running on Neo which makes use of the existing customer system, and by this allows to leverage the made investments on the on-premise side to new on-demand applications? This is where the Neo Connectivity Service comes into play: SAP HANA Cloud provides the SAP Cloud Connector as the connectivity component on the on-premise side which allows to connect to SAP HANA Cloud on the cloud via a point-to-point SSL tunnel. On the on-demand side, there is the SAP Cloud Connector On-Demand as counterpart to the on-premise component, but this is completely transparent for a consumer (it is operated by Neo in the cloud). Right now, this infrastructure is used for SAP HANA Cloud only, however it is the goal to extend the use case as following: The SAP Cloud Connector On-Demand should serve as single exit point for all SAP On-Demand applications, while the SAP Cloud Connector serves as single entry point to all customer backend systems. This means that we want to extend the usage of the Neo Connectivity service also for other SaaS or PaaS offerings hosted in the SAP data centers. The Neo connectivity service provides API which can be used by the applications to make calls to on-premise systems. This API is the destination API. It makes an HTTPS call to the SAP Cloud Connector On-Demand, where it is sent via the SSL tunnel to the SAP Cloud Connector on the customer side. Here, additional checks like whether the current request is allowed to access the backend are performed. If the tests succeed, the request is forwarded via HTTPS to the targeted backend system.
