1st Short-term Joint Staff Event
Zespol Szkol w Dabrowie Bialostockiej
Dabrowa Bialostocka — Poland
27-30 November 2018
Issue 1
Q1OM: All schools are regularly monitored and diagnosed. Based on them, together with our partners,
we noticed similar difficulties that the students themselves are talking about. First of all, they themselves
state that teachers too often use interactive methods of work, and routine is entering everyday educa-
tion, which ultimately causes discouragement and decrease in motivation. School teachers see pupils
lack knowledge of science from the lowest stages of education and lack of regular work resulting from
low self-esteem and motivation. Together, we planned the expected impact on participants, staff and
developed a plan to include the acquired competences of employees in the curriculum. The cooperation
involves the use of the eTwinning program, for most organizations it will be a new venture that we want
to include in the regular school life cycle. Each of the partners wants to raise the level of education in
their institution and the achievements of young people who are not satisfactory in the sphere of mathe-
matics. About the project:
- planned activities will meet the needs defined on the basis of the diagnosis of partner organizations
(including by external bodies)
- the project includes defected groups
- very motivated organizations participate in the project, having qualified staff to implement the project,
- the project focuses on supporting young people with educational difficulties
- partners with high political and economic contrast are involved in the project, which gives an extremely
valuable opportunity for development,
- all partners find it difficult to learn maths from students who are a priority on the current job market
- participants who have never had the chance to participate in an international mobility project will be
invited to the project. For most students it will be the first trip to another country.
- the project assumes involvement of the local community, especially the family,
- the project is based on the principle of active participation and co-creation - both in relation to the staff
and students,
- the project assumes the creation of high-quality publications, which may be a valuable source of infor-
mation for teachers from other countries,
- close cooperation of partners at the stage of project creation, good and smooth contact and a sense of
common interest predict high quality of partnership, which is extremely important in this project.
At the time of the founding of the parish church of St. Stanislaus in Dąbrowa in the mid
15th century, the surrounding territory was an expansive and sparsely populated for-
estland. The Polish kings and Lithuanian princes gradually encouraged its development
and as such the settlers who arrived to inhabit this vast tract of virgin territory arrived
from both the east (White Russia) and the west (Mazovia).
The forests were in part leveled and small towns and villages began to form. By the early 17th century,
Dąbrowa had evolved into the political and commercial center of the region. By this time the area con-
tained several large estates, villages and forest settlements.
The Dąbrowa area has been traditionally a region where members of many
ethno-cultural groups resided. In addition to the Roman Catholic parish
church of St. Stanislaus, there was also a synagogue. An Eastern Orthodox
parish was located in nearby Jaczno. In the latter part of the twentieth centu-
ry an orthodox church was established in Dąbrowa itself. The town also has a
small Muslim population. Protestant Calvinists are mentioned in manuscript
sources as having resided in the town as well.
The urban-rural community of Dąbrowa Białostocka is one of the largest mu-
nicipalities of Sokólski poviat in the municipality of Podlasie. It is mainly of
agricultural character.
The center of the community is Dąbrowa Białostocka, which functions as an administra-
tive center and service center. The city has about 6,300 inhabitants and is located on the
Kropiwna River - a tributary of Biebrza. The administrative district consists of a city and
52 villages. The total area of Dąbrowa Białostocka is 264 km², the population is 12,916,
the average population density is 49 persons / km².
Poland, the official Republic of Poland (Polish:
Rzeczpospolita Polska), is a Central European
country bordering on the north with Russia
(with the Kaliningrad region) and Lithuania, on
the east with Belarus and Ukraine, on the
south with Slovakia and the Czech Republic
and to the west with Germany. Most of the
northern border of Poland marks the coast of
the Baltic Sea. The Polish coastline in the Baltic
Sea is bordered by the coastlines of Denmark
and Sweden
The capital of Poland is Warsaw, while other
major cities are Krakow, Wroclaw, Poznan,
Gdansk and Lodz. Official language is Polish and currency is zlotys (meaning gold).
Poland became a member of the European Union on 1 May 2004 and has also been a member of NATO
since 1999, the UN, the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) since 1996,
the WTO since 1990 and the Of the Visegrad Group since 1991.
