2. CHECK TO SEE
IF ANYONE IS
INJURED
The first thing you should always do
is check to see if anyone involved in
the crash has been seriously injured.
If so, call 911 to request emergency
medical assistance.
3. EXCHANGE INFORMATION WITH THE
OTHER DRIVER

4. TAKE PHOTOS
Use the camera on your cell phone to take pictures of the collision.
Getting photos that document the positioning of the vehicles, skid marks
on the road, and the location and extent of damage to each vehicle can
provide important evidence supporting your version of what happened
and help prove the other driver caused the crash.
5. WITNESS CONTACT INFORMATION
Make sure to record the names and contact information of
any witnesses who may be able to support your version of
what happened during the crash.
6. CALL THE POLICE
Call the police and request
that an officer be sent to
the scene to fill out a
report. If the police report
indicates the other driver
was at fault or received a
traffic citation, it can
significantly improve your
chances of recovering
compensation during a car
crash claim.
7. Always visit your doctor
within a few days of being
involved in a car wreck, even
if you don't think you've been
injured. Often, it takes
weeks for symptoms to
develop. By getting
examined by a doctor right
away, you'll be able to
document that your injuries
were caused by the crash
and you'll ensure that all
injuries are treated in a
timely manner.

8. CONTACT YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY
You're legally required to contact your insurance company after a car
wreck. Failure to do so may potentially jeopardize your ability to recover
the benefits to which you're entitled. Answer all questions honestly, but
don't admit fault or sign any waivers without consulting with an
experienced attorney first.
