•Tinkering time!!!!
4. what is aso
•It’s Search Engine Optimisation for the App Stores
•Use keyword targeting to increase your visibility
•Cater to the algorithm over time to increase and maintain visibility
5. what microsoft told us
•"In regards to the number of downloads, the app ranking is based on more than just downloads and reviews and it is possible to have you app featured in the "New and Rising" section if your app is getting a good amount of downloads. This usually helps your app's visibility and allows you to faster climb the rankings."
•"I can suggest that you try experimenting with the keywords to see what works best for your app, but I am not sure that adding your app name as a keyword will work.”
•“I have seen some developers try that with success and others without success. If you notice any improvements or if you have any questions, please let me know."
6. what we’ve tested so far
•Keywords
•Description
•In the future
–Reviews
–Different keywords
–Bigger markets…Germany!
7. what we’ve found
•Caching period in the store
–Delay in impact
•Slight increase
•Unlike other stores increase is spikey (why? I’ve got some thoughts…)
11. reasons why search isn’t delivering volume…
•Windows highly focused on curating apps
•Search feature not as prominent in the store
•Search algorithm isn’t particularly smart or quick to respond
•Windows store doesn’t have enough volume to illicit a large volume of downloads by ranking
•I screwed up and it didn’t work?
15. keep trucking
•Try optimisation in other languages
–More popular markets
•Tweak keywords
–Different variations
–Competitors
•Reviews
–Push to engage
