1. Yifan is in a dual degree program at Bucknell. He is pursuing degrees in both Electrical and Computer engineering. His interests lie prmarily in Autonomous systems
2. Yifan’s passion in life is working to change the world. His work in innovation and invention stems primarily from his hope to change the way we live our da-to-day lives.
3. While many engineers are focused on being at the cutting edge, space travel, artificial organs, and alternate fuel sources Yifan wishes to work to change the lives of EVERYDAY people, not just to those few those blasting off into space.
4. Yifan sees much potential in simplifying computers for all users. Technology is such an integral part of society that simplifying it so that more of the population could take advantage of it would provide great benefits.
5. Following his passion Yifan co-found Unparalleled Systems, a start-up company that works to simplify medical computers. Simplifying medical computers is of vital importance as they are often crucial to sustaining life so a good user interface could be responsible for saving a patient
6. Yifan and I both feel very strongly that the key to the future for engineers is collaboration. Collaboration with each other, collaboration with clinicians, and collaboration with those in need. By reaching out and helping those in need rather than simply sitting behind a desk we can work together to solve some of the world’s biggest problems.
7. Another ideal Yifan and I agree on is the mixing of engineering disciplines to solve problems. The thought process that goes behind each branch of engineering is unique and valuable to the problem-solving process. By mixing the disciplines many opinions can be voiced and different routes to solve a problem can be taken.
8. Yifan and I agree on one more important ideal, taking action. So many people have wonderful ideas, inventions, or suggestions and are afraid to act on them. We believe that by taking charge and pursuing our dreams we can help others find the courage to pursue theirs.
9. Much as Yifan wishes to encourage collaboration between engineers he also hopes to encourage collaboration between various ecosystems. By understanding what leaders such as myself and all of you are doing Yifan feels that he and his school will benefit, as well as sharing with us his experience. From all of this the key word we focus on is COMMUNICATION
10. Yifan wears the white hat, I feel that he is an excellent leader that can switch between roles. Although the white hat is his “resting hat” I feel confident that if faced with a situation that required him to change hats he could do so very effectively.
