Abstract:
As we all know, Multimedia is a medium
through which information can be effectively
and efficiently transmitted from one place to
another. Now, as we are a part of the twenty
first century, we have access to many
applications involving multimedia (thanks to
the internet. It really shrinked the world.).
But, the question is how we are using this
multimedia in our day-to-day life. That is
what this paper is all about. With the help of
Interactive multimedia or non-linear
multimedia system, learning process could be
enhanced. Multimedia is usually recorded
and played, but it can be used in a much
more constructive way which everyone will
witness shortly.
Introduction:
With the development of multimedia,
people’s outlook on information
representation has changed completely. The
development of multimedia and internet has
been so fast that it changed the lifestyle and
culture of the human beings. As we all know,
data means raw facts and figures like any
person’s name, number, sound and images.
Raw data can be processed and converted
into meaningful and useful form which is
commonly referred to as information. The
word ‘multi’ means ‘many’ and ‘media’
means ‘materials through which something
can be presented or submitted’. Multimedia
is a medium through which information can
be efficiently transmitted from one place to
another. To use multimedia as an effective
means of communication, it is important to
use all the components of multimedia
effectively. The various components that
constitute multimedia include text, audio,
graphics, video and animation. Learning is a
lifelong process. The process of learning
would be incomplete if we do not share what
we learnt with others. Although nothing can
knowledge gained by others which completes
be compared with a book, it is not very
helpful these days. Sharing our content
online in a better possible and attractive way
with the help of multimedia is what we are
going to find out.
E-Learning so far:
E-Learning refers to Electronic Learning.
In order to provide practical knowledge to
students and scholars, E-Learning was used.
E-Learning changed the entire method of
studying from learning to experimenting.
With the help of E-learning, a scholar can not
only gain conceptual knowledge of the
subject, but also the practical dimension of it.
Many universities and schools have adopted
this method of learning since the arrival of
this unique idea. Perhaps, it also provides an
eco-friendly way of learning. But still, E-Learning
is in the developmental stage only.
Hence, it has got a huge scope in the coming
years.
E-Learning with Multimedia
Now, we have a fair idea of what E-Learning
is. Nowadays, people upload the
concepts of various fields over the internet in
the form of read only files, online books and
the like. These ideas are really cool, but
imagine implementing the concepts of
multimedia in the field of E-Learning. Let us
take the example of a scholar who is at the
beginning stage of his career. He just has a
rough idea of his subjects. He cannot gain
knowledge just through the reference books.
He needs a lot of other things to take care of.
Books can be our best friends, but not all the
time. Books help us to gain knowledge by
providing us facts about the subject or the
area of specialization. We want something
more than learning. We cannot get all the
facts only by learning via Text Books. To
increase our knowledge, we must share the
knowledge we gained and should also
develop the interest in absorbing the
2. the learning process. But, that should be in an
interactive way. That is what our paper is all
about. People get attracted to media easily
than the raw facts because of the nature of the
media. Hence, it is necessary to involve
pictures, videos and audio with the texts that
are normally used. Hence, to help a person to
learn in an interactive way, all we need to do
is to record an e-book with a scholar as he
learns his subject. The scholars’ voice must
be clear so that the interactivity is not
disturbed. The scholar must first gain
knowledge about the subject and as he is
learning, he should take notes in the form of
images, audio, video and the like. He can
also include the application of the learnt
concepts from the initial stage of his career to
the final. The scholar can finally upload his
experiences with the subject and the
knowledge which he had gained at the end of
his certification over the internet. This can be
viewed by many scholars who want to start
their career. This idea can help a person to
choose his career, learn basic concepts in an
interactive and fun-filled way, learn from the
mistakes of the previous scholar and
experiment new ideas. If this can be done by
the scholars in their areas of specialization,
we hope that one day, everyone will be aware
of everything that is happening and choose
their career wisely and easily become a
specialist in their area of specialization
thereby leading to numerous inventions and
ideas.
Conclusion:
Finally, we implemented multimedia in
the field of E-Learning in a constructive
manner. This process can reduce boredom of
a subject and help scholars and other people
to understand the concepts clearly. This also
increases the knowledge of a professional
who had already mastered the subject. But,
we don’t mean to say good riddance to Text
Books and Reference Books. Without books,
we cannot gain the basic knowledge of a
subject. Books provide the basic foundation
of our understanding. But, to improve our
understanding and imagination, we go for E-Learning
with the help of Multimedia.
