Jane Austen was born in 1775 in Hampshire, England and lived her whole life in her family home. She published six famous novels anonymously between 1811-1818, including Pride and Prejudice, Emma, and Sense and Sensibility. Austen's novels focused on themes of marriage, social status, virtue, gender, and money within upper-class Georgian-era English society. Pride and Prejudice tells the story of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy, whose pride and prejudice must be overcome for them to recognize their love for each other.
