5. Key Points
Traffic is sporadic and moves
through the space quickly
Installations seem to be more
of a chance encounter than
sought out
Reluctance to interact in
public spaces unless others
are seen interacting
7. Message
Metaphors & Symbolism
To increase immediacy in
understanding of the message
using personally relatable
metaphors rather than
scientific or raw data.
8. Scale
Present vs Future
Presenting the impact of the
users actions, not just in the
immediate but how this
continued change will have
future impact.
One vs Many
Ensuring not to lose the small
impact of the one in the
visualisation of the data whilst
still representing this change.
9. Interaction
Active
Physically playing and altering
the installation artwork in not
only producing rewarding
enhanced content, but one that
is informative.
Passive
A change in societal behaviour,
(taking public transport) reduces
pollution and also data visualised
within installation.
11. Living Light
Logical Mapping (Causal)
Each night, the neighborhoods
light up if their air quality is
better today than last year.
Mental Mapping (Metaphor)
The illuminating of the sectors
of the city provides an
indicator of success in
lowering air pollution at an
instant.
12. Living Light
Physical Mapping (Visual)
Historical air quality data is
accessed via the Internet and
compared with real-time
figures. This forms the trigger
for the illumination of the
mapped installation.
