2. Disneyland Park originally Disneyland is the only
theme park designed and built under the supervision
of Walt Disney. There are currently 5 Disneyland
Parks in the world , one in Paris , Hong Kong , Japan ,
California and Orlando.

4. Walt Disney
Walter Elias “Walt” Disney was an American
cartoonist and filmmaker. He was born on
December 5th 1901 . He and his brother Roy
Oliver Disney co-founded Walt Disney. Walt and
his staff invented many fictional characters
including Mickey Mouse , Donald Duck and Goofy.
Walt himself was the original voice for Mickey.
He died on December 15th 1966 from lung cancer.

Walt Disney came up with the idea of
Disneyland after visiting many theme parks
with his daughters. The original idea was to
have the park beside Burbank’s studios on 8
acres. World War 2 came and put his plans on
hold. During the war Walt had made many more
new ideas and it became clear that 8 acres
wasn’t going to be enough.
6. Disneyland History
After a few years Walt bought a 160 acres site near
Anaheim , California . In 1954 building began. Walt spent
a long time planning out each land. Finally it was ready for
Open Day. It had taken 1 year to build. The park was a
$17,000,000 Magical Kingdom .A 15 day heatwave had
come across California and temperatures rose up to 110
degrees Fahrenheit. This affected the fountains. After
the opening day the heat wave continued almost wiping
out the park. Besides is terrible weather conditions on
the opening day it went well. By 1965 ten years after the
opening day , Disneyland had had 50 million visitors.
7. Disneyworld
The Walt Disney World Resort or simply known
as Disneyworld is in Bay Lake Florida.
Disneyworld is owned by Walt Disney Parks and
Resort. There are 27 themed resort hotels , 9
non Disney hotels, 4 theme parks , 4 golf
courses , a young golfers golf course , 2
themed miniature golf courses , a camping
resort and a residential area on the 27,258
acre sight. It was opened on October 1st 1971.
8. Tokyo Disneyland
Tokyo Disneyland is a theme park in Tokyo
Disney Resort . It was built by Walt Disney
Imagineering. It is owned by The Oriental
Land Company. Tokyo Disneyland and
another park Tokyo Disneysea are the only
Disney parks not fully owned by the Walt
Disney Company. In 2013 Tokyo Disneyland
had 17.2 million visitors making it the
second most visited theme park of that
year. It was opened on April 15th in 1983 .

Disney Resort is the most visited
theme park in Europe. It is the
second Disney park to be opened
outside the United States. It was
opened on April 12th 1992. Another
theme park , Walt Disney Studios
Park was opened in 2002.
10. Hong Kong Disneyland
Hong Kong Disneyland is on Penny’s Bay ,
Lantau Island. It and Ocean Park Hong
Kong are the 2 largest theme parks in
Hong Kong . Disney wants to avoid using
Chinese culture , customs and traditions in
its theme park . Hong Kong Disneyland
gets the least amount of visitors out of
the 5 Disney Parks. It gets around 34,000
visitors a day. Hong Kong Disneyland
opened on September 12th 2005.
