Persuasive Letters

1. Dear Dr. Gray,
In my language arts class we recently read a Time For Kids magazine that was focusing
on a rather interesting article. Advertisements in school buildings. We had a small debate
about if it really could happen, and if people think it would be a good idea or not.
Well, I have been thinking a great deal about how I feel about advertisements in school
buildings, and personally, I believe that Brighton Area Schools should possibly look into
it. Advertising companies pay a great deal of money for a small sign. If we got signs on
lockers (of course with the permission of the student that it currently using the locker) we
could bring in money for programs and activities that have recently been cut off due to
money loss in the district.
Of course, we would have to look into the business that wanted to put up advertisements
so we could make sure there is nothing inappropriate or goes against peoples beliefs.
A few examples of trusted and partly educational businesses would be Staples, Barnes &
Nobles, and Borders.
Some families have religions that may go against having advertisement, so I believe
before doing any locker ads ask the families that are related in one way or another to the
schools of Brighton, how they feel about having ads on their child’s locker. If there are
any problems with families, religion, and the ads, I think there should be a simple bulletin
board in a place throughout the schools so companies can pay to put up signs, phone
numbers, and sales for their company.
